I don't think it's out of print, just Amazon isn't selling it directly. You can get it from places like Best Buy and Wal-Mart as well as WB Shop, it's just expensive.

I'm surprised how much stuff I buy from Amazon that they don't sell directly, actually. They must only restock things which sell like crazy and let intermediaries have the leftovers.

I was thinking the same thing. Seems like an easy marketing gimmick to have a sale on the set on an actual Friday the 13th. I really want to buy the set but would prefer to not pay $100 or more for it.

Personally my favorite is The Final Chapter. I like all the Paramount ones though (Parts I-VIII). The New Line entries are the weakest along with the remake and A New Beginning.

Eh, I like the remake for what it is. It is better than some of the other recent horror remakes.
Jason X is a lot of fun if you go into it with a "fuck it" mentality. I used to hate it but rather enjoyed it when I watched it last October.

Jason X isn't really bad it just isn't my favorite and I have to be in the right mood for it. For a campy ridiculously over the top horror film it is a pretty fun time. As part of the overall franchise though I'd say its one of my least favorite entries.
I don't think the remake has many redeeming qualities. The cast sucks and is unlikeable (there's no one to root for) and I didn't like the way Jason was handled in that film. They made him seem like he was somewhat clever and had traps set around the camp. It was just lame to me and just was overall very forgettable. The best part like I've said before is the prologue, after that it goes to crap.

i love Jason X. my #2 or 3 guilty pleasure movies!! i love that i have the blu-ray. can't wait to see again!!
and i loved the remake for the simple reason of using Night Ranger's Sister Christian.

While they CLAIMED the 2009 movie was a "remake", I can't accept it as such simply because it opens with the events of the first movie having happened long in the past.

Not sure I understand what you're saying. The film was in taking place in the year it was made (2009) as far as I'm aware. The new film isn't supposed to be taking place after the original 1980 film but is its own continuity. I think Jason in the prologue was supposed to be younger (maybe he was thought to have drowned shortly before the events with Mrs. Voorhees happening) so some time would have needed to have passed for him to be the age he was in the main film. My guess is the prologue probably took place in the mid to late nineties. Also I don't think the film was ever classified as a straight up remake of any one particular film in the franchise but more of a re-imagining of a combination of events from the first four films. Either way it's shit though.

Jason X is one of the more fun entries in the series, I liked it.
Since Warner licensed part of this set from Paramount, I don't think you'll ever see it put on clearance. I believe WBshop carries it as well for a good price.

It's $114.39 on WB Shop, seems like the lowest it can be found for is Columbia House who has it for $77 and change. Most other places a low price on it is like $95.

Re: Friday The 13th BR Box Set in the works.
I'd suck it up if I didn't already own 5 movies included in the set on Blu-ray, and ALL of the movies (several times over) on DVD, and if i hadn't bought certain box sets at full price only to have them drastically drop in price shortly thereafter.
My buying point is $70 but it's only hit that price a few times that I am aware of and I was always low on funds at the time. The waiting game has become kind of a game at this point and I'm not about to throw in the towel.

I actually like Jason X a lot up until the point where he becomes Uber-Jason. While the idea of a cybernetically enhanced Jason is cool, I hated the actual execution/design they came up with. He looked too much like a Power Ranger villain for my tastes. I know they didn't have the biggest budget, but they could have went for a more subtle, Terminator-style approach and still been within budget.

Yeah, if it's one thing the original Friday the 13th films are known for, it's subtlety.

To be fair though I do agree that the two New Line entries (Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X) did up the over the top factor to new extremes.
