Well then I suppose technically you could get the Target version and have all of the content, albeit in three different places.

one of those places being iTunes?

Yeah, the Target stuff on the disc, the Best Buy stuff on the website, and the commentary in iTunes. I'd suck, but since it's probably the best we're ever getting, it'd be functional.

yeah. i signed up for that CN from BB and was able to stream on tv, so when i am done with movie, i can watch the extras. i can live without the commentary, though it would have been interesting...

iTunes is free, it's annoying that's it's locked to one location, but it doesn't cost anything. Can I still get the extras with the 2-D version or does it have to be he damn 3-D one?

Sure enough, I finally got my itunes version of MI: Ghost Protocol. The idiot Paramount cs rep didn't help me at all. Thanks!

Hey, I'm sure this has been covered, but I must have missed it : If you redeem the digital code from the Blu Ray on iTunes, do you get the exclusive commentary that way, or do you really have to actually buy the iTunes version for that?

Mine did not. I looked at all 3D copies and it only had a sticker for the coupons.

Does it have a white barcode on the back? Might have to rebuy it.

Did your 3D version have a non-lenticular cover? That's the one with extra content. I'd look again.

After seeing the free Best Buy content listed here, I decided I wanted the Target version. I went out to Target and just grabbed a 3D copy. It has a sticker on the front that says :

Exclusively at (Target)
Special Collector's Set

Includes :
30 Minutes of Bonus Content
Collectable Package Art
And up to $10 off on Future Movie
Purchases. Coupons on Back
The Bar Code number on the back is 0 32429 13722 7

Hope that helps!

BTW : The exclusive artwork is hideous and the Target cases make sure every slip cover gets all chewed up as well. At least they price matched FYE's $19.99 price.

I ended up with the 2D version from Target today. Good enough for me.

Don't forget

If any of you bought GI Joe from Target, it included a $2 off coupon for Star Trek Into Darkness

It's good for the 2D or 3D version

Damn. Nope. Oh well. I'd probably never watch them anyways but I looked at 20 3D copies.

Someone ought to start a petition about this. We don't buy our movies for the movie itself. No, it's all about the piece of paper wrapped around it. I for one will not buy a single movie that doesn't have one!!!!

^^^^^sarcasm

Which extras are you referring to?

Yes, there is a Target exclusive 3D set and a Target exclusive 2D set with the same bonus disc. They both look very similar with the white slipcover but the 3D set has a slightly thicker case

You can use your digital copy code from the set to redeem for the commentary for free.

Note that Target has two different exclusives, for 2D and 3D. One exclusive, with the white slipcover, features the 30 minutes of bonus features and the 'Plan and Save' coupons, while the other exclusive, with the normal cover, ONLY has the coupons. They all have a sticker on the packaging saying that they are Target exclusives.

And thanks to whoever posted the link to the free CinemaNow exclusive content! Once I 'buy' it, I own it, right? It's not a rental that goes away after a certain amount of time, right?

Technically, yes. But this is also mentioned in their FAQ:

"My purchased titles are no longer available for me to watch

We have exclusive agreements with movie studios for their titles. Once that agreement has concluded, the studio may choose to remove the title as a rental, a purchase, or both. These agreements can change at any time and content may appear again."

This is why I prefer to own physical copies of movies. I've had a couple over the years that I've purchased become "unavailable" for viewing. One of them eventually came back, but there just seems wrong for the consumer.

fumanstan 09-11-13 09:59 AM

What were the Target coupons included for? I have the sticker mentioning them on the case but didn't see any actual coupons on mine.
