Crystal Lake Memories (New Friday the 13th Documentary)- 8/27/2013
Saw this over on Blu-ray.com and figured some people here might be interested. The documentary has a run time of seven hours according to the article and covers everything from the original to the 2009 reboot. I'm a big fan of the franchise and thought the previous documentary, His Name was Jason was pretty good but this sounds even better. Can't wait to get it!

It was first announced on April 27th, 2012 that production companies Panic Productions and Hutson Ranch Media were diving into creating the definitive look at the Friday The 13th film franchise. The companies have grown in their experience in documentary film making since the first Friday The 13th documentary, His Name Was Jason, was produced back in 2009 and hot off their critical success of the Nightmare On Elm Street doc, Never Sleep Again, they felt it was time to do Jason Voorhees and his fans proud by creating the definitive look at the Friday The 13th Film Franchise.
Fans have been extremely patient over the past year since the new documentary was announced, reading updates on the production and seeing some excellent images of cast and crew from the entire franchise. A few questions have gone unanswered, however, in that time such as when the documentary is going to be released for sale, how long is the run time going to be, and what home video formats will the show be released on? Well, all of those questions get answered right now!
The brand new website for Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History Of Friday The 13th has been launched which shows the release date for the show as August 27, 2013 and it also states that the pre-sale for the documentary will begin on July 8, 2013! But that's not all, we have even more information for the fans as we can give you the exclusive expanded details about the documentary.
With a running time of approximately seven hours, Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th explores each film -- from the seminal 1980 slasher hit to the 2009 reboot, including the hit syndicated television series -- in chronological order, and promises to be the definitive retrospective on one of the most enduring horror franchises in motion picture history.
Writer/director Daniel Farrands says, "I'm very proud that my passion (and obsession) with all things Friday the 13th, which started when I was 12 years old, has finally come full circle. What started out as a pipe dream ten years ago when I first teamed up with Peter Bracke on his incredible book, has taken on a whole new life with our companion documentary. I hope fans will be as thrilled as we are with this epic look back on the Friday the 13th series."
With such a massive run time, Crystal Lake Memories will be released on Region Free Blu-Ray to offer the entire documentary on fewer discs which will make for a more enjoyable viewing experience.
Thommy Hutson shares his sentiments about his journey with the project.
“I am thrilled that the show has come together so beautifully,” says producer Thommy Hutson. “After a year of production, so many amazing, new interviews, and locating incredible materials, Crystal Lake Memories will absolutely be the embodiment of ‘definitive’ when it comes to telling the story of the Friday franchise, not to mention bringing Peter Bracke’s amazing book to life. We couldn’t be more excited to unleash this incredible history of Camp Crystal Lake, Jason, and all that has gone with them over the last 30 plus years.”

His Name Was Jason sucked. I know the guys putting this together and I've heard nothing but amazing stories about how it'll turn out. WB would be insanely foolish to not release a F13th box set around the time this comes out. Never Sleep Again was brilliant, and as a bigger F13th fan I can't wait to dive into this one.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that. I'm hoping for more with this one.
I know a lot of the people who were involved in 'Never Sleep Again' were involved with 'His Name Was Jason', but holy god were the final products completely different.

I was massively disappointed with His Name Is Jason. Never Sleep Again, on the other hand, was pretty damn awesome. I'm really looking forward to this one.

I guess I haven't watched His Name was Jason in a while but thought it was decent but could have been way better. This new one sounds like it should be a good time though. I still need to watch Never Sleep Again but I was never as big of a Nightmare on Elm Street fan as I was of Friday the 13th.

Yup!
http://www.amazon.de/Never-Sleep-Blu...er+sleep+again
Germany also got a BD of 'I Am Nancy' as well. The problem is, I believe both German BDs are just SD upconverts.
Can't agree with you more on that. Between that and the long segment about Jason's feelings or what people thought his background was like, made that documentary the poops.

7 Hours!!! Holy shit....Yes, I'm in.
I've watched about 1/2 of Never Sleep Again. So far it's a really engaging documentary.
I also own His Name was Jason and watched a little bit of it, but never got around to finishing it yet.

Bump
The official site is now taking pre-orders:
http://crystallakememories.net/buy/index.html
You get an extra bonus by purchasing off the official site:
BONUS DVD with approximately four hours of extended interview material from cast and crew spanning the entire Friday the 13th film franchise and television series, available ONLY when you purchase directly from our website!
It's $29.95 + tax and only through Paypal.
Is anyone here going to bite on this or is $30 too expensive? I mean content wise, you have a 7 hour BD and another 4 hours on the DVD. It's a lot of content.

Runtime: 420 minutes
I don't know, I think I might wait for the reviews based on that price. I have no problem paying $30 for something like this if the story behind the scenes is interesting and engaging enough, and, those stories usually are, but you never know.

Pre-odered blind. 7 hours + 4 hours and no shipping charge? Of course it's worth $30! I bought independent documentaries for more money than that in the past.

Very tempted. I'm in without hesitation at $20. Then there's the bonus DVD... Decisions, decisions.
