Willow coming to bluray 3/12/2013

From Bluray.com
20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced and detailed its upcoming combo pack release of Ron Howard's Willow (1988), starring Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley and Warwick Davis. The release will be available for purchase on March 12th.

When young Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis; Harry Potter franchise) finds an abandoned baby girl, he learns she is destined to end the reign of the wicked Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh; "Upstairs, Downstairs"). In order to protect the child, Willow must team up with a rogue swordsman (Val Kilmer; Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang) and overcome the forces of darkness in the ultimate battle of good versus evil!

Special Features:
All-new Digital Transfer Overseen by Lucasfilm
NEW Willow: Deleted Scenes with Ron Howard
NEW Willow: An Unlikely Hero Personal Video Diary of Warwick Davis
The Making of an Adventure with an all new introduction from Ron Howard
From Morf to Morphing with an all new introduction from Dennis Muren
Matte Paintings
Easter Egg
I just saw this on bluray.com, and it will be the film's 25th anniversary. Glad to see its coming to blu-ray, should be an awesome disc.

It would be awesome if that video diary is just season 1 of Life's Too Short. I'll probably pick this up at some point, but a while back I watched my DVD which I hadn't seen in years - and it didn't really hold up as well as I remember.

Some of the humor in it doesn't hold up well watching it as an adult, but all the battle scenes and the final act of the movie should be great on blu-ray. I hope the Warwick Davis Commentary isn't left off the new disc.

This is one of the first films I remember seeing in a theater. I'll likely buy.

I am glad I was not the only one that remembered next year is Willow's 25th anniversary. And that the other person was 20th Century Fox.

Already have the SE on DVD, unless the DVD video quality was horrible (which it isn't) I doubt very highly I'll double dip for the BD. If I didn't already have it I'd buy it on BD when the price came down a bit. It's a good movie but not worth a double dip to me. -kd5-

I just watched this last week on DVD. It looks fine. I don't think that I will upgrade on this either. Although I do like the movie. But I already have it, I can't upgrade on everything. Plus there still is other things on Blu that I want to get first.

Re: Willow coming to bluray 3/12/2013

This has been on youtube for awhile...watched it a few years ago. It has some good moments but it just didn't hold up for me. Great score though (like most 80's fantasy films).

Re: Willow coming to bluray 3/12/2013

Yeah, I was excited for those books when they came out....they weren't very good.

Basically Willow is a glorified babysitter to a very arrogant and "sense of entitlement" Elora Danan.

Spoiler:

Spoiler:
All the major characters from the movie are killed off almost immediately. Who wants a Willow book without Madmartigan!

I will be buying the blu on day 1!

Love this movie. One of Val Kilmer's best performances. I also believe this is when I started looking out for Jame Horner's score work.

Willow just got an A+ review from bluray.com. Might have to pick this up after all. It looks like a good upgrade.
