Because I'm admittedly OCD I explained my thought process. I went with the generics because I KNEW that picking a single side last year would drive me crazy this year.

I know myself.

Target sets the bar with a 29.99 price point

Image linking to BRF doesn't work without account. Is that from the Target ad? If that price holds, it's a no brainer where I'll be as soon as they open. I seriously doubt Amazon will match it.

Yes, that's the Target ad. Awesome price.

Damn, I may not be able to get it. Going to be out of the country on vacation when that comes out.

Why wouldn't they? They're usually pretty good with matching printed ads.

We have about 7 days to find out before they ship. My pre-order has been there since the day they went up.

fu#k Amazon .... Their prices suck unless they are forced to match and in this case Target has exclusive content (Game of Thrones Season 2 w/Target exclusive bonus Blu-ray (includes 20 minute feature interview with author George R. R. Martin plus 4 behind the scenes featurettes) (Blu+DVD+DC) $29.99)

I'm more concerned with BB having the same price or matching there for the exclusive Lannister slipcover

Silly. Who cares if they're forced to match if they match? Saves time, tax, gas. Bonuses are YMMV. I'd watch it once, tops, and probably it'll end up on YouTube anyway.

Also, RAWR!

I care .... I'd rather support stores that lead with the low price (not necessarily Target in most cases) than Amazon who only matches because of their ability to do so on the fly

Stop giving the retailers that are more price aggresive on the frontend and see them close and live with Amazon who will dictate the price of everything

The downside with Target is that they will fuck up the case those spiders they love so dearly.

^ I was just coming in to post that. What are the chances we'll be able to find cases that aren't smashed to shit at Target?

Normally I wouldn't drive out of my way, but $20 is pretty significant. Anybody know what time Target puts new BD's on the shelves?

My Target use those plastic case on all their bluray which they remove on checking out. I'm getting this on my birthday. Can't wait.

Out of curiosity, how do people generally rank season 2 compared to season 1? I've only seen the first one so far.

I haven't really bought a lot blu-rays lately but, on average how often do B&M stores have better prices than Amazon on things that aren't new releases? It's rare for new releases to be 63% off.

I thought it more than maintained the high quality of Season 1. There are a lot more characters introduced though and some complain that the show jumps around too much from location to location. The stakes are definitely raised and you can tell that from the very first episode of the season. We are now way, way, way past simple direwolf killings and butcher boys getting, well, butchered.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 2 -- February 19, 2013

Has anybody been able to confirm the $29.99 price at Target for this? That seems way too low to be true for a release that would normally be priced in the 49.99 range.

Pretty sure that Season 1 was released at $35 at Best Buy and Amazon, so it's not too hard to believe.

Yeah, $35 at release from Amazon for me. $5 less for no Sean Bean in the show or his likeness on the cover. Adds up!

What's to confirm? The post is right there at #33. It's not like that's a fake ad.

Got it. I couldn't see the image when I posted my original question. I know where I'm heading next Tuesday morning.

34.99 is the advertised BB price ... so either they PM Target or Target gets my coin
