Re: What is your favorite Blu ray release so far in 2012 ?
Had a few great release, but overall not a BIG year in the BR Dept.
Favorite New = Sherlock BBC Favorite Old = Jaws/Indiana Jones/E.T. (The Spielberg "Hat Trick") |

My Top 3:
Jaws Universal Monsters Halloween II I haven't watched E.T. yet, but I'm sure it would be up there. I also agree with these statements:

This has been a great year for Blu-ray, but if I had to pick one title it would be Halloween III. That movie has seen virtually NO love on every format, so to have a company like Shout! give it the Royal Fucking Treatment is a godsend.

I agree it was pretty damn cool of Shout!/Scream Factory to give this movie the special edition treatment after all the time it's been shit on.

Halloween II was a great release, just so happy to have the TV edit. Never would have thought that would ever be released on DVD.
The Universal Monster movies was a great set, though no new special features was kind of a down point for me. Jaws and E.T. looked great and definitely should be mentioned! |

only one? that's tough, here' three :D
David Lean Directs Noël Coward - yes I'm cheating since it's four movies, but still this is how a box set and restorations should look like Jaws - thank god Universal included the original mono mix It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World and we haven't yet counted the soon to be released: Lawrence of Arabia deluxe edition Zombie Arrow edition Finding Nemo (my fave Pixar film) Trilogy of Life Rashomon Heaven's Gate |

Star Trek: The Next Generation season 2: *Finally* Paramount decides to go the full nines with a Trek season set. An extended cut of the episode, "The Measure of a Man" will be a big draw.
