Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)...big improvement over CE DVD?
I usually don't do these threads, but i am really torn as to if i should upgrade this title or not.
i have the 2-disc CE DVD sitting here just waiting to be watched, but i want to know for those that experienced both versions, if it is a significant upgrade in PQ and AQ.
and yes, i've read the reviews and comparison on DVD Beaver, but still wanted to know from "us".
thanks in advance.

My goodness, yes there's a difference. The Blu is quite fabulous to my eyes. The perception of depth is there. The colors are better, and the encode is very high bitrate. The grain structure is also mostly intact. Not perfect, but great for a catalog title. So, please do yourself a favor and upgrade that classic title.

Another positive vote for the Body Snatchers BD here. I didn't even watch it on a huge screen and it looks excellent for the most part. Fine detail all over the place (can't remember whose razor stubble popped out at me in a few shots--Sutherland's or Nimoy's--that's how good it looks). It shows its 70s roots with a pretty authentic looking grain structure. It hasn't been excessively shined up, which I consider a good thing.
I bought the CE DVD when it first came out (not into BD at that time) and got the BD a couple of years later. My BD is the combo pack version, which contains the old non-anamorphic DVD. I swapped disc one of my CE with the combo pack DVD, to have the best of both worlds. I gave the other DVD to a family member who doesn't have access to an HDTV.

Only downside is they didn't port over the commentary to the BD disc.
