It's $99 MSRP, so it's going to be minimum $50-60 when it gets sold in retail IMO.
For those here who say they aren't interested, is it because of the price? or what appears to be them recycling the same discs currently out? Not interested in the extras? Or lack of shelf space? :D |

FYI, The current set is $25 as Amazon's Deal of the Week. I think that pretty much seals it for me and I'm just going to forget about the upcoming one.

If I ordered TDKR now, does it still come with the slipcover? I'm not a slipcover kind of guy but I like to get the BDs with what they originally had.

Nice. Thanks, man.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises - Blu-ray + DVD + UV Digital Copy (Dec 07, 2012)
That Nolan/Donner conversation is less than 30 minutes, and while it is very interesting, not worth the price of the whole set if that's all you cared about.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises - Blu-ray + DVD + UV Digital Copy (Dec 07, 2012)
review is up for the big set
http://batman-news.com/2013/09/21/da...dition-review/ the main Dark Knight trilogy retrospective doc is 77 minutes, the Nolan/Donner convo is 25, & the IMAX scenes are presented in full AND in their original 4x3 aspect ratio, which is prob close to 90 minutes, as about 30 was shot for Dark Knight & about 60 for TDKR. In total it looks like about 3 hours give or take of extras on the bonus disc |

from the documentary, Christian Bale's Batman audition (with Amy Adams reading as Rachel and Bale in the Val Kilmer bat suit)

I never get casting sessions at times. Like I honestly can't make out whether that was good or not.

Well he got cast, so I assume it was good.

I hope that upon the release of the BR for Superman v Batman we get to see Affleck's casting session in Adam West's Batman costume.

In BB it wasn't bad. In TDK it was too much. In TDKR it was toned a bit down but still too much.

It would have been nice to have Amy Adams as Rachel
And i liked his Batman voice there too much better then the movies. |
Re: The Dark Knight Rises - Blu-ray + DVD + UV Digital Copy (Dec 07, 2012)
wow. if that was merely an "audition" i think he nailed it.

Because, honestly, everyone back then knew that Batman spoke in a different tone of voice than he did as Bruce Wayne.

The concept of having two separate voices for Batman and Bruce Wayne is actually quite sound. It was Bale's execution of it that's taken the heat, IMO.
And, yes, Bale's Batman voice did indeed take a lot of heat because it's overdone and downright silly when he's doing his full on Batman voice. The voice he did in that audition (and the semi-Batman voice he transitions to in certain scenes when out of costume in the films themselves) is far better than the full on growl he eventually went for. |

You misunderstand my point. Nolan's comments make it seem as if Christina Bale is the first and only actor to do separate voices for Bruce and Batman. Practically every actor from Keaton onward has done exactly that. So I find it hard to believe that Bale was suddenly the only guy in the auditions to do exactly that.

Kevin Conroy IS Batman. Case closed.

I got the BR trilogy set for a good deal. Good enough for me in my view.

I don't know if I'd go that far to say that they used different voices. Keaton didn't really do anything more than whisper. He didn't do anything to change his voice. Same with Val Kilmer. We also know that Clooney really didn't do anything different.
Bale was the first live action Batman actor to sound completely different when he was Batman compared to when he was Bruce Wayne. In short, what Bale did was nothing new. Not even for the live action performers. Although I agree with Conroy as Batman being best since he is the first actor to get the vocal nuances just right. Bale came damn close. I love whenever Bale was having a conversation as Bruce and would gradually become Batman. It was something akin to what Conroy used to do (he stopped doing that around the time the series was redesigned to look like the Superman cartoon) but even more nuanced. If it wasn't for the silly growl once he fully transitioned into Batman, I'd say Bale's was the best vocal performance. He really needed to scale it back a bit so it'd be just under over-the-top. |
