Bought the Best Buy steel book. Although you might want to open it right away; it took me 3 tries to get one that wasn't broken on the spine . The reborn doc is interesting enough, but nothing earth shattering. The cover for the steel book is pretty badass though.

I stopped by my local Walmart today for something else and figured I would pick up a copy if they had it. One of the guys in the movie department said that they only got 4 copies and some asshole came in at midnight and bought them all.

my first one was completely broken as well! spine shattered, broke in two pieces. 2nd was fine though. little hassle to go back and forth.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises - Blu-ray + DVD + UV Digital Copy (Dec 07, 2012)

When I bought my steelbook this morning, Best Buy tried to sell me Reborn separately for an extra $15.

I turned them down because a) it's not worth that much and b) it was reported here that it was on the special features disc.

Now I see that the Target edition also has a special features disc, so I'm not so sure. Did Best Buy have a special pressing of their disc? Or do all versions of Rises come with Reborn?

I don't have a blu ray player yet, so it's nothing urgent, but the information about the documentary could have been a lot more clear.

Anyone here pick up the Batcowl version today? I'm just wondering what other numbers people received. I'm 30,016 out of 35,000

I got the cowl version and just like someone else mentioned, the store only got 4 copies.

I snagged one as soon as the display was put out. Some other asshole wanted to buy all of them but I said F-You. ODATBOYWASMAD

They did the same to me. The lady behind the register seemed confused when I said the cover of the steelbook already advertised the exclusive content.

Wonder how many people they ripped off with this (or if there was actually additional exclusive content I missed out on)?

On a side note, just watched and the IMAX shots look phenomenal.

Does anybody know why the WB releases here in Canada no longer carry the Ultraviolet DC?

I believe the $15 that some of you are talking about is the free CinemaNow digital copy. I bought the Steelbook tonight and the cashier asked if I was interested in it (there was a Yes/No prompt) and she said it was free, so I said yes, then it took out the $14.99 as part of a package. She asked for my e-mail and I received a redemption code.

Where can I find a good comparison of all blu ray releases?

Best Buy has the Steelbook

Target has the digibook

What else?

A friend texted me that there's a deleted scene of the Joker riding the school bus from Dark Knight in that Exclsuive Best Buy disc documentary.

FYI.

Some pics of the Bat Cowl edition

It's definitely an iconic image from the movie. It might fit better with the TDK Batpod if it were The Bat. Overall I do like it and it does bring to mind images of the movie.

FYI.

The same scene that's on one of the "Focus Points" of the TDK bonus features?

It's an alternate angle not used because Nolan (who explains in narration) didn't want to cut away from the explosion.

Or

Do you mean a deleted scene from the opening sequence?

Not sure. I don't have that edition, so can't comment myself - just going buy what was texted to me. I assuming if that's a different angle of the same scene then that's the one. I'll check.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises - Blu-ray + DVD + UV Digital Copy (Dec 07, 2012)

I asked my sister to get me The Dark Knight Rises for X-Mas and she will probably get me the regular BD with the holographic image. But I went ahead and spent the money to buy the Steelbook from Best Buy today. I haven't opened yet, but I feel kind of dumb hanging on to it with a copy coming from my sister. Should I just return it? I'm not a Xage-like person who collects multiple copies of the same movie. But the Steelbook is kind of cool. However, if I were to open it along with the one my sister is getting me, $25 for a 35 minute documentary is kind of expensive

If it helps, much of the footage in the documentary is already present, albeit in different form, in the regular special features. It's nicer to see it all edited together as a fairly substantial documentary (rather than 8-10 minute featurettes), but there is definitely a lot of overlap.

Switching between the 1.78 IMAX scenes and the 2.40 scenes makes the 2.40 look like shit - not that they do, but the IMAX stuff looks to good that they do look like shit comparatively.

15/70 has a resolution anywhere up to four times greater than 35mm film. Even when presented in 15/70 IMAX, the native footage looked amazing and breathtaking whereas the 35mm footage came across significantly darker and grainer.
