Way back in January we alerted you that Homeland - The Complete 1st Season was up for pre-order at Amazon.com for both DVD and high-def Blu-ray Disc. At the time we had pricing but no date, details or artwork. Now Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced the title, and showed that even the pricing Amazon has been showing for this item hasn't been off by roughly ten dollars.

The street date is August 28th, and the 4-disc DVD version is priced at $59.98 SRP in the USA and CA$69.98 SRP in Canada. The 3-disc Blu-ray edition of this title (which sports English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio) is $69.99 SRP in the USA, and CA$79.99 SRP in Canada. Extras include Audio Commentary (may not be available on all formats), Deleted Scenes, the "Under Surveillance: Making Homeland" Featurette, and "The Visit: A Prologue to Season 2."

If you didn't see this on Showtime last Fall, you missed out. You need to pick this up ASAP.

Don't be a cheapskate and wait for a 5 finger discount (if you haven't seen it). :D It's a fantastic 1st season. It's going to be worth every penny.

Season 2 will premiere on Showtime September 30th.

I watched this season twice. It was incredible - and I will gladly buy the blu-ray and watch it AGAIN before the start of season 2.

Last Fall was crazy busy for me and I didn't have the time to pick up any new shows. This one has been on my "to watch" list for months. Can't wait for the Blu-ray! I just wished it came out before the Emmys...

Season 1 comes out August 28th. The Emmys are on September 23rd. The second season of Homeland starts on September 30th.

Excellent excellent show. Dumbing the show down for newcomers, I would describe it as a slightly less action-centric 24, minus the real time element. The fact that a lot of former 24 staff are working on this show is an added bonus.

This was my most anticipated show last year but I don't have Showtime so I've had to wait for the Blu-ray. Hearing everyone say what a fantastic show this is only makes the waiting more intolerable!

Well I do hope you enjoy it. If you like it, are you going to subscribe to Showtime for the 3 months it's on this Fall? I would go bannanas loving season 1 and then having to wait well over 1 year for season 2 to come out on BD with all the buzz and hype surrounding it. It's going to be up for multiple Emmy awards this Fall.

For anyone who doesn't have Showtime, this is a great show. Showtime had a marathon on of Season 1 this weekend, and it was just as entertaining on the 2nd viewing for me. What makes this show so easy to recommend is it has very few dull moments, as each episode flies by.

Cant wait for September 30th and really interested to see where they go with the storyline this season.

Just watched the full first season, definitely one of the best shows on TV (Breaking Bad still wins my vote overall). Very well done and with moments of tension that are unrivaled by most anything out there. Highly Recommended. The pacing isn't absolutely perfect but it still flies by for what essentially becomes a 12.5 hour movie with minimal tangents. (There's no Kim Bauer vs the Cougar here.)

Funny part about it, I fired up an episode at a buddy's house last week, since it starts off in the middle east the first comment was "I'm not really feeling this.", then it shifted back to the states and 10 minutes later everybody was hooked :lol:

I can't wait to buy this. I watched the pilot the night it premiered kind of on a whim. I didn't think I would like it.....and I was wrong.

Great show!! It better win some damn Emmy's too.

I don't know the numbers but could it be cause its on Showtime instead of HBO? I know all of my friends have HBO but only some have Showtime, so I couldn't recommend this show to them til it came out on BluRay.

I just don't watch much television any more other than news, sports, and Family Guy.

I haven't followed a show religiously since Sopranos ended, and I have a very basic cable package, so I am usually late to the table on these hidden gems.

I have caught up on Mad Men, Walking Dead, and this little show called Breaking Bad. Now I will add Homeland to my list.

I'm happy for those willing to give Homeland a shot. You're not going to regret it, this is a quality, well-written and produced drama.

Stay away from reading any of the old Homeland threads in TV Talk.
