Based on what I don't own yet, I'd pick up Chinatown, Heat, and True Grit '69.

The next Best Buy upgrade and save program runs from 4/21 - 5/11, so these will be part of the deal.

Doesn't look like they are Best Buy exclusives anymore as they are all listed at Amazon for a May 7th release also.

Re: New WB Steelbook Re-releases at Best Buy

Defiantly in for Chinatown, Face Off and True Grit. Even though I already own Braveheart and Gladiator, I would have gotten steelbooks if the artwork was the theatrical art. I really hope that these sell well enough for WB to continue with them, I'm dreaming of a Black Rain (Original poster art) and Zodiac release. And god willing, someday... 1492 (Original Poster art). A collector can dream right?

Re: New WB Steelbook Re-releases at Best Buy

They are not best buy exclusive. All are at amazon and wbshop. I however believe that half of the "re-releases" are unsold copies from the bestbuy wave that have been sent back to distributor.

I've already pre-ordered Batman and Batman Returns. Probably getting many more of this wave, but we'll see.

How do they compare to the Amazing Spider-man and Zero Dark Thirty steels? (quality, interior art, etc)

Build Quality is the same, as they are all manufactured by SteelBook.

The last batch of BB releases did not contain interior artwork, much to the consternation of collectors. Some of the same titles which had nice interior artwork in their Canadian variants (Batman Begins, Inception, Sucker Punch, et al.), were "dumbed down" in the subsequent Best Buy wave. Let's hope this is not a trend.

paint quality on ZDT and Amazing Spiderman were 1000000 times better too. If they put a bit of effort into these, they will be awesome. Not holding my breath.

These aren't exclusives, but it looks like multiple Universal steelbooks. They arrive on June 25 as BD/DVD/DC/UV combo packs. Pre-orders are up at Amazon and they're currently $13.99 (30% off list).

Those look horrible. And no matter what...Shaun of the Dead will still have the fucked up Aspect Ratio. Also The Big Lebowski will still not look as good as it should. Fuck The Mummy.

Also available are Paul, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Chronicles of Riddick, Hellboy II, and Van Helsing. Could be more that pop up, but these have all been verified for release.

on my projection screen, there's a slight black bar on either side. it doesn't go the full 2.35 : 1. some TVs might not display that due to overscan.

These mass-produced steelbooks will have a dull, faded look as opposed to Best Buys limited editions which a beautiful glossy finish.

The Batman Begins and Dark Knight from the UK are the covers of the Japanese versions (white background). I was hoping the WB U.S. releases would be the same.

I thought the Director's Cut dragged. The theatrical is a tighter, better version, IMHO.

Re: New WB Steelbook Re-releases at Best Buy

Essentially, those are the same designs as the UK limited-run "Reel Heroes" slipcovers, so you can probably fill in the gaps for the missing designs by looking over the ones available here.

But, I agree: blah.

Many of the new released are going to be appearing at best buy.. so you'll be able to use the upgrade and save on them.

Re: New WB Steelbook Re-releases at Best Buy

I don't mind the Universal steelbooks for Hot Fuzz, Paul, and Shaun of the Dead. I also don't have any of them and have meant to get them so put in an order for the three. The comic design they're going for on the steelbooks works better on some of the releases than others if you ask me.
