The Blu-Ray for "Season 1" is now available for Pre-Order on Amazon from HBO Home Video.

This aired on Cinemax last summer and only a few of us in TV Talk talked about it week to week (most likely because there probably aren't many who subscribe to Cinemax), but this was probably one of the best, kickass action serial dramas ever. It's like 24 on Steroids. I highly recommend this series.

BTW, this was also renewed for a 2nd season. But, this 10 episode season tells a complete story arc.

I won't buy TV on blu, but I highly, highly recommend watching this. It's a great show. Tons of violence, nudity and a damn good story to go along with those good parts. :up:

Plus, you can't forget that Philip Winchester and Sullivan Stapleton have great chemistry.

Surprised that you wouldn't be interested in purchasing this. Because it's too expensive or lack of replay value? I think the 1st season as a whole has alot of replay value.

I keep wondering if HBO will air this at some point, or keep it exclusive to Cinemax subscribers. I'd like to view before blind-buying.

It's Exclusive to Cinemax. Cinemax has actually been re-airing the show over the last few months.

I say take the risk and Blind Buy it. I know you liked 24 and this is similar to that and lots more. It has a very International feel to it and isn't restricted by the real-time aspect of 24. The show takes place in quite a few international locations: London, New Dehli, Vienna, Cape Town, Hungary.

The show is already available in the UK on BD and is Region Free. 17.99 pounds, which equals to around $28.

There is also a 2 pack that features the 6 episode UK 1st season with Andrew Lincoln from The Walking Dead as the lead. Also Region Free. It's 25.97 pounds, which equals to around $40.

I don't buy any TV on DVD or blu. No replay value for me. But I highly recommend a blind buy on the show for anyone who might be interested.

I have the first season, but it won't play. It says Mode Not Supported. I'm guessing that while region free, it's 1080i/50 perhaps?

Has anyone here bought this set and can provide some pictures of the packaging? I'm trying to figure out exactly how the dvds are packaged in the blu-ray set. Thanks

The DVDs are packed in their own seperate folder. True Blood season 4 did the same thing. They are flippers.

Okay, thanks. I looked up an unboxing of that True Blood set to get a better idea. I was thinking about buying the set, but wanted to make sure I could sell dvds separately. I already have someone that will buy them and I just needed to know if they were in their own packaging first.

And those flippers total 2 discs. I blind bought this myself based on everyone's reaction. I was very surpised to see those 2 flipper discs.

Sadly, that was not on the site when I bought it. I'm sure enough complaints shuffled in and they finally added that disclaimer. So I then bought the DVD version of the first season because I have a DVD player that will do the PAL conversion.

if there is a way for people to see that "first" season/series, i recommend it as well. Not as violent shootem up as the one on Cinemax, but still really great action and story.

Plus any show that includes the following in its first episode is automatic win for me

I have 2 BD players. One of them is having problems playing back Strike Back.

It's a Sony BDP S270. I've tried putting all the discs in multiple and the machine just locks up. I can't eject or hit stop and I'm forced to unplug to get the disc out.

Is this a firmware issue? As of right now, there is no new firmware update. I have another Sony BD Player on my upstairs TV and it took a couple of seconds, but played back fine.

I've tried playing back all 5 discs and the same thing happens, the machine locks up. Very annoying.

Any suggestions? I got this BD player relatively cheap for around $70 at Walmart in November 2011. Is it time for a better player?

Wasn't on the site when I got it either, and it would not play on any of my Sony players. Picked up a Samsung and it played perfectly.

Okay, DAMN do I love this show. The stories, actors, action, etc etc. Reminds me so much of Spooks (MI-5). This is very much worth the blind buy, so thanks to all who recommended it.

For those who have seen the original vs the Cinemax one - so is the original still on? I tried looking it up on imdb, and it looks like the third season is starting up in August, but I know that's on Cinemax. So if someone can enlighten me the differences of original vs the Cinemax version. It looks like most (or all) of the British cast is in this one. Or did Cinemax just repackage this? Now I'll have to pickup the original UK set.

The UK Series and the Cinemax version are the same series. The only difference is that Cinemax co-invested in season 2 and re-branded it as the 1st season for American audiences. So they wrote 2 new lead characters and hired former X-Files producer Frank Spotnitz to write alot of the new episodes. FYI, this version aired in the UK as Strike Back: Project Dawn.

They kept some continuity with the original UK series by bringing back Richard Armitage, who plays John Porter, and was the lead in the UK season. However, Armitage was contracted to work on The Hobbit and was only able to return in a cameo appearance more or less.

With the exception of Porter, all the characters are new and it's a brand new story arc with no tie-ins to the UK season.

Wow, thanks for the explanation. I was wondering about Richard Armitage, as he was only in it briefly in those flashbacks. I'm definitely going to be watching the new season now.

Glad people are enjoying this. Hopefully they watch season 3 (2 if you only count the American versions) on Cinemax starting this Friday. I want this show to get multiple seasons. :up:

Me and DJariya have been the biggest proponents of this show when it was airing on Cinemax last year. I keep telling as many people as I can how awesome this show. So far, I've got one convert. I'm working on another right now by giving him access to my MaxGo account.

Yeah, I'm 4 episodes in, and I dig it as well - super entertaining without being dumb or illogical, not to mention interesting characters all around; both good guys and bad guys.

It's definitely an action-packed show and the Blu-ray set has excellent A/V quality. Fun to watch with a lot of eye candy for guys.

Well, damn, I watched the two free episodes (and I'm glad they were both free, because offering just one would have been cruel), and daaaamn. Daaaaaaamn! :) Loved the characters and the story, and the women weren't bad either. I intended to only watch one because it was late but couldn't resist watching the second. I haven't gotten around to MI-5/Spooks or any season of 24 after the first, but I thought this was great and just ordered the HBO BD set so I can finish the season. Probably won't be getting Cinemax for it, though.

I don't recommend this show as a cure for insomnia. I couldn't sleep last night and watched the last four episodes of the season. :lol:

Awesome show. Thanks to the forum for recommending it. :up: I probably haven't been this pumped for a new show since Game of Thrones... which is also on a pay channel that I don't pay for and thus have to wait for optical media. :sad:
