Happy Feet Two at Amazon... reviews hacked?

What's with all of the one star reviews?

Maybe it's not a very good movie, as these types of sequels tend to be.

I didn't care for the first one at all so I can easily see where a sequel would get a lousy review. They were pretty vocal in their hate for it though weren't they

Wow, I hated the first, can't even imagine how much I'd hate the sequel based on those reviews...

The second one wasn't nearly bad enough to warrant so many 1-star reviews in one day. Definitely hacked.

I checked out the five 5-star reviews. One indicated in the comments not to see the film, so giving it 5 stars must have been a mistake. Two others indicated they liked the first and couldn't wait to see the second one so they reviewed it based on their excitement ahead of time.

Voting for a poll over at Cartoon Brew was also hacked in favor of Kung Fu Panda 2 from someone in Glendale. Maybe it's some studio thing, or some pissed employee.

I personally hate when Amazon reviews focus on an opinion of the movie, and don't mention the technical qualities of the disc.

True, but I bet that's what most people are actually looking for.

Its better then when people leave 1 star reviews of classic films because they had a bad dealing with a marketplace seller.

I hate that. I'd volunteer for Amazon one hour a week deleting such reviews and banning the offenders from "reviewing" again.

I actually agree. If you want to see reviews for just the movie, head on over to IMDb (which, of course, is owned by Amazon.com). At the very least they shouldn't allow voting until the BD or DVD is released (or perhaps the week before).

Most of these reviewers probably watch it stretched and with composite cables on their HDTVs anyways. I actually just preferred their opinion of the film.

Hard to believe it could've been worse than the first one... I'll never know.

Well the director actually wanted to do the first one. But he had no wishes to do the second and only did it to get studio support to do Mad Max and Justice League (back when that was in pre). This cant bode well to the quality of HF2.

So maybe the reviews weren't hacked and they are actually legit?

That's what I don't like about some of the reviews from here. You have some people reviewing certain films that they aren't a fan of the genre of and then they go through the movie, saying why they didn't like it.

I just want a general plot of the movie and then more focus on what's on the disc and tech specs. You could hate a movie but for what the disc is, in and of itself, it could have a bunch of great stuff for someone that liked the movie.

It might be because of the UV digital copy. I was reading the reviews of the Doom Justice League and it had alot of 1 star because of the UV.

Don't these movies have some sort of environmental message? The 1-star reviews could be influenced by that.

That many reviews in one day, two months before release and long after it left theaters, does sound suspicious. Maybe it's an Occupy Happy Feet movement.

I looked to see if there was a thread here for the movie but it looks like no one bothered.

Yeah, I searched before posting this thread. I only noticed the link since it showed up in my Quick Picks (probably because I had ordered Puss in Boots 3D).

Yup, ive noticed releases with a UV copy are getting bad reviews.

Wow, worse then the first one?

Never cared for the first one, aside from a few characters the leads flock was a bunch of jerks. And for some reason the songs they were doing was distracting for its location, nothing that would be timeless in any manner.

I figure the simple answer is it's the same issue you see at places like imdb. Some movie is announced, not even close to being out yet, and the haters vote 1 and the lovers vote 10.

Yeah, but the attack on this movie in Amazon definitely is being coordinated somewhere.

Looking at other sites, there isn't the problem:

Rottentomatoes User Score is 56%, with an average rating of 3.4/5.

IMDB score is 5.9/10 with a median of 7. Although at IMDB, there is 318 people that rated it a 1, but that only is able to drag the average down less than one point.

Happy Feet 1 is getting some recent bad ratings in a disproportionate way at Amazon, probably carry over from HF2.

Surprised you guys don't know about it. It's a protest started by Mike Mozart on youtube. A kind of anti-SOPA thing to get back at the studios. Here's a link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ponv39VKdTs

It's not his original video but it shows the progress of the protest and links to some of the movies getting slammed right now.
