No, it's a made-for-cable doc that's never been released on DVD. It's also known as Hitchcock: Shadow of a Genius. It wasn't produced by Universal, but was distributed by their TV company. I hadn't heard of it before, but can't even find a torrent for it.

Yes, it was sanctioned by Universal, so rights should not have been an issue. No, it was not included in the Masterpiece Collection DVD set.

I taped it on VHS when it aired on cable several years ago, so I already own it, but a BD upgrade would be nice. I guess I hoped that it would surface in a Universal BD Box. Would Universal's TV distribution arrangement prevent this?

Fuck. My set came in yesterday. Lovely lovely set. Except for 1.5 inch crack on the left side of the plastic case. Ugh.

It's just the plastic case...but...still. Fuck. I don't know whether I should just take the blow or get them to send me a replacement set. Goddamn it. *sigh*

I got mine from Fingerhut the other day. What a fantastic set, so glad I bought it.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that! I got mine a few days ago, and it's by far the most beautiful set that I have ever seen. I didn't look closely at what all of the paper extras were before receiving it, so was very surprised at some of the goodies included. I'm a mechanical engineer, so the prints of the Bates house and Vertigo tower are some of my favorite extras ever. I plan on framing at least the Bates one, if not both. Amazing set. Can't wait to dig into the films, even with the mixed reviews of some of the AV quality.

I totally forgot about this! I remember watching it back in 99. Really good watch. Upon a search on the Hitchcock wiki I found this...

http://www.hitchcockwiki.com/wiki/Do..._for_Hitchcock

Looks like it's available to watch online!

Dunno. But I just talked to Amazon yesterday and my replacement comes the 10th. It better not have a cracked case. That was so sad. Otherwise...the set is fucking amazing in physical nature of it. Now if only some of those films were better...cared for when they made the BDs.

I returned mine (my first version had a crack in it as well). They rushed me a new one (only took TWO days to arrive!) and they refunded by shipping costs (which were $52) to ship the damaged one back the same day I shipped it (just email them a photocopy or picture of your receipt).

Mine doesn't have a sticker at all...unless I'm not looking in the right place. Perhaps I got a second-pressing? Where on the box is the sticker?

Take the clear case off. Look on the side of the black base.

Goddamn. 2 days? I got my new one shipped Monday. Comes the 10th.

Yeah, I'll email them a PDF of the receipt. I had to do the same thing w/ the Universal Horror set.

$52 to ship that defective set back?? Insane, I had no idea postage costs from the US to England have reached such an egregrious level. The set can't have weighed more than a couple of pounds.

I paid 18 bucks to have mine shipped. Granted...it was w/o tracking. So it gets lost...I'm fucked.

Bah, don't sweat it. Amazon is usually pretty understanding of these things.
