Check out the list of potential Blu-ray Republic titles here - Beware my Lovely, Ruthless, Letter from an Unknown Woman, That Cold Day in the Park, China Gate, The Quiet Man, and a billion others. The mind boggles!

Would love to see this one get a BD release.
Have never seen it, but it has a substantial, glowing write up in the book 1001 Movies You Must See Before you Die.

Otherwise, IOTBS is my #1 most wanted from the Republic catalog. Thrilled to see it coming sooner rather than later.

Kinda hate to see these Republic classics farmed out to Olive, but I'm in for High Noon for sure

Perfect Weapon is $21.99 on Amazon?! Man, I want it, but that's pretty steep...

What I wouldn't give for a blu-ray edition of Firstborn (1984) or The Boogens (1981) as they never got a DVD treatment. I'm not going to hold my breath though, especially with all of the titles on that list that are legitimately worthy.

Lionsgate has been sitting on them for years, so at least they're finally going to be released.

It turns out High Noon and Invasion won't be taken from the original negatives:

The HIGH NOON negative does exist – But this restoration was done off a FINEGRAIN.

I suppose it makes a fair deal of sense to consider it lost if it doesn't exist.

Body Snatchers and High Noon?

Fantastic news.

Now, if someone would just get Ferrara's version of Body Snatchers out, I could complete the trifecta.

I wish that it were possible to somehow remove the tacked-on voice-over narration and framing sequence in Snatchers, but obviously that's wishful thinking. The film is still a classic, but it would be even better without the compromised ending and redundant, atmosphere-destroying voice-over.

I know this is kind of bitchy but...I'll have to wait for good price drops for the lack of "sufficient" extras.

Yes, better to have them out than sitting in the can

Looks like Family Video is the best bet for Olive titles, as they offer them for $17.99 each. Unfortunately, their free shipping coupon expired yesterday.

Wow, Firstborn! I'm sure I'm one of the few in the world who care but I'll be scooping this up for sure. Another VHS retired.

This Republic-Olive deal is working well. Next up should be Letter from an Unknown Woman, Caught, Dark Mirror, Secret Beyond the Door, Rio grande and A Double Life.

re: The Olive Films Blu-ray Thread

The first Olive release with any extras is The Boogens, coming on 8/7, and including an audio commentary by director James L. Conway, star Rebecca Balding and screenwriter David O’Malley:

Try Importcds.com, I ones I bought from them (The perfect Weapon, Crack in the world, Geisha Boy, Boeing Boeing) were about 14.50 each plus $3.00 shipping for the first item and 1.50 for each additional.
