Again, thanks for all the information regarding the region coding stuff, and happy to report that the Zavvi disc plays just fine.

If anyone wants my 3D disc for Avengers: Infinity War, let me know. Otherwise, I will probably put it up for sale on eBay.
To clarify, this would be just the 3D disc. No case or anything.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

OK, I was searching through the 3D offerings in Taiwan from JSDVD.
http://dvd.jsdvd.com/index.php?cPath...s&currency=USD

They list some odd offerings in the later pages. Blu-ray 3D versions of:

Dr. No
Rope
Vertigo
Charade
All Quiet on the Western Front
Cape Fear (1962)
The Kid (1921)

From what I can find, these are "autoconversions" of these films, and pretty poor quality. They're all from one distributor, Bit Wel. More info here:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...9587&styleid=2

They don't seem worth getting, but it's interesting to think what older films would've gotten a proper post-conversion if Blu-ray 3D had taken off. A good 3D version of Vertigo is intriguing.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

As one who loves 3D but is also a purist, I've always thought conversions of older movies were a bad idea. Granted some of them DO look good and even like the movie was originally shot in 3D, but it's still 'wrong' in my book like colorizing black and white movies- If they were really meant to be seen in 3D they would have already been made that way, plus it confuses the general public into thinking that ANY movie can and should be converted into 3D, when to do it properly requires a bit of work. I haven't seen any of those mentioned conversions but they sound similar to the useless "2D-to-3D" modes on TVs.

My copy of Skyscraper 3D arrived from Target today. I'm waiting for some reviews though before I crack it open.

Why not just get the US release? It comes out a month sooner than the UK release.

It’s $48 on Amazon US right now. UK was 16.66 pound which is less than half that price. And not in a rush. But, is this production company (not sure which) usually region free?

Not sure why you have to get it from Amazon. Best Buy has it for $30.

The Amazon price is likely to drop anyway. Skyscraper started at $45 on Amazon, and dropped to $28 by release day.

BTW, it's not necessarily the production company you look at, but the distributor, although sometimes they're the same. Warner Bros looks to be mainly region free for its 3D titles in the UK, but if you're not in a rush, you could always wait for confirmation before ordering, if the US edition's price hasn't dropped more.

Ok, I’m sold. I honestly didn’t even think there would be US release. Just used to region free UK...

Boy, I tell ya Infinity War looks fucking good in 3D. Loads of depth. That first Spider-Man scene, swinging and Thanos encounter with Strange and Stark on Earth was done real well. Can’t wait to see more. Might have unopened SteelBook from UK if anyone interested...

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

In case anyone's looking to fill a few 3D gaps, Amazon UK has had some nice pricing on fairly common 3D titles for a while now. Some of these are part of a 5/£30 Blu-ray deal, but most are cheaper individually (and some current £5.00+ titles have been down to £4.99 fairly recently). Not sure if they round up to £30 when you put 5 in your cart, so check carefully. A few samples (viewing related items will show more, of course):

GHOST IN THE SHELL - £4.99
XXX XANDER CAGE - £5.14
BIG HERO 6 - - £4.99
DESPICABLE ME - £4.99
DESPICABLE ME 2 - £4.99
DESPICABLE ME 3 - £4.99
BOSS BABY - £4.99
HUNTSMAN - £5.19
KUBO - £5.19
STAR TREK BEYOND - £5.19
IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE - £5.19
WARCRAFT - £5.19
STEP UP 5 - £5.19
TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES - £5.10
HERCULES - £4.99
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 2 - £4.09
LAIKA 3D BOX (Paranorman/ Coraline/ Boxtrolls) - £7.89
47 RONIN / RIPD / IMMORTALS 3-PACK - £7.89
EVEREST - £4.99
GREAT WALL - £5.39
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON - £5.39
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 - £5.39
TRANSFORMERS AGE OF EXTINCTION - £5.39
TINTIN - £5.29
GREAT GATSBY - £5.08

etc.

Based on my research, How to Train Your Dragon 1 & 2 UK are Region B locked, so won't play on US Region A Blu-ray players. Also, Amazon.co.uk wouldn't ship Despicable Me 2 to me for some reason.

Some of the individual "sellers" on there don't ship out of the country. I'll have to check my US Dragon discs and see if they're locked.

As far as I could tell, I was ordering all discs direct from Amazon.co.uk.

The US Dragon 3D discs look to be all region:

The Dragon 2 UK 3D Blu-ray is region locked to B:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/How-t.../#RegionCoding

There actually wasn't info for the UK Blu-ray for the first movie, so I just didn't chance it.

That's why I am so glad that I had my Sammy K8500 made region free.
