After Ghost In The Shell, I no longer buy things just because they are 3D.

I've heard conflicting opinions of that one- I buy 3D movies now just to show my support for them and hopefully encourage the studios to keep putting them out until the electronics companies get their heads together. Normally I probably wouldn't bother with many of the converted titles, if the slump in 3D popularity affects anything I hope it'll lead to less of those and more natively-shot 3D.

GitS was not good. not good at all. have yet to finish the movie (probably not even saw half hour), but was much less than impressed. sometimes they are hit and miss, but while they put it out and i have the capability (for now) to do so, why not get everything. if not great in 3D watch the bluray or even digital copy. no biggie. some are great though and those i look forward to. Can't wait for Coco. Loved Moana in it!!

Guys, lets face facts, home 3D is dead in this country. That being the case, there's no real point in buying things you don't really want to own (if such things exist in the case of our deal friend Alan, lol)

it is and it isn't. many non-Disney related releases are 3D. they still put them out. and the Disney ones, i don't mind importing region-free. why not grab them while they are still here if you enjoy the medium?

Then we get back to my main point - which is that I'm done buying releases JUST because they are in 3D. If I like the movie, I'm in (like Thor: R) but otherwise, not getting something like King Authur just because its in 3D and hard to find.

Amazon price matched. I ended up picking up a copy. At $20, why not. Should be fun. Sounds like the 3D is well used.

oh yeah, no doubt. i don't get just to get, though i was surprised i didn't get Batman vs. Superman in 3D. i have SS and WW and getting Justice League. I know it wasn't highly regarded (movie and effect), but i do like to have a complete set so to speak. though i was thinking of getting Geostorm in 3D just because, but i thought better of it...

i didn't watch the whole thing bc of time, but g-damn if the 3D on Thor: Ragnarok wasn't spectacular this time around. even from opeing Marvel logo shot to him sitting in the cage, really good depth. very impressed thus far...

UK is one place to get it, but it's also released in other countries.

I got the Taiwan version on the way, although its release date isn't until 3/9 there. Also saw a listing at a Hong Kong store:

https://www.buyoyo.com/buyoyo/eng/Pr...08964&prtype=0

Coco and also Star Wars: The Last Jedi look to be only released in 3D internationally.

I go with Hong Kong/Taiwan, since they're both in Region A, so no region lockout suprises (although aside from Ratatouille, I think Disney is pretty good about being all-region). Also, due to my Chinese immigrant in-laws, it's handy to have a Mandarin/Cantonese subtitle/dub on hand.

There's also a few Chinese movies that have 3D versions never released in the US. Films like The Mermaid (shot in 3D), Monkey King 1 & 2, Call Of Heroes, Sword Master, Wolf Warrior, etc.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

I ordered mine from Amazon UK, supposed to be here by end of week.
I noticed too late that Amazon Japan has a 4k/3D version:

Or the giftset with 4k/3D:

Yeah, but that's $80 before shipping. You could get separate 3D and UHD releases for that price.

For those that don't know, Zavvi is a retailer from the UK. They have some 3D steelbooks:

Disney 3D sale at Amazon UK. I might finally pick up the live action Beauty & the Beast and Frozen at those prices.

Thanks for that. I've been waiting for CARS 3 and PIRATES 5 to get a little cheaper.

Also, for those so inclined, the 3D edition of VALERIAN is back down to £14.99. This is the lowest it's generally gone, though I can imagine it might drop a bit further as time wears on.

But that's only region B, right?

Based on this, right:
http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Valeri.../#RegionCoding

It looks like a lot of the European copies of Valerian 3D are region B only. The Hong Kong and Taiwan copies are region A though.

Genuinely forgot to add that (fixed, above), but for me it makes no difference and I know it's not an issue for many here, and frankly shouldn't be this late in the game. My bad, though.

One of the best 3D conversions out there. Wait until about the 1:20 mark and you'll see awesome 3D, I've never seen it before.

Audio is a little soft as others have noted from other sites.
