Saw this after I already received a shipping notice from Deep Discount for $29.99 no tax (best price prior to your post). If only I could have cancelled the DD purchase and got it for about 8 less.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie 3D is down to $19.99 at Best Buy & Amazon.

I came real close to ordering it, but since 3D versions of LEGO Movie & LEGO Batman have been BF deals in the past, I'm hoping this one follows suit.

Sounds like the 3D on this is poo-poo.

Can't entirely agree with that assessment, other than maybe the lack of pop-outs, which are pretty rare on even the best of conversions. Otherwise, I thought the depth effects were excellent on this, especially during the action scenes. In fact, I'm kinda sick of sites like that one (and even this one) pissing on 3D releases because objects don't thrust into the middle of the room like they did in the 1950's 3D films that were actually shot with 3D cameras. I long ago embraced the fact that depth of environment should be the attraction for contemporary 3D, particularly conversions -- and some of you have praised other releases for as much in old comments in this very thread -- and by that measure, Tomb Raider is as good as many other 3D releases this year. Not absolute reference quality, I'll agree, but definitely worth, say, the $21-ish dollars Walmart was asking for it in recent days.

Thanks for your perspective. I was somewhat suspicious that the bulk of the criticism in that review seemed to be about the lack of pop-outs.

The forum users over at blu-ray.com seem more enthusiastic about this release:
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread....5#post15186735

I think it's important to remember that reviews are subjective, and that even an "official" review on a site may not jibe with others opinions on a 3D film.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Yeah, I read through the forum as well and will be keeping my copy. I'm not looking for a bunch of pop outs to make me happy. As long as there is a good amount of depth and it adds to the viewing experience, I'm happy. This movie was dumb fun, and I think the 3D would help add to some of that. Walmart is also now sold out, so hopefully everyone that wanted a copy got one for that price.

I ordered one for pickup.

I was finally able to get the extra dollar off for the first time in ages.

I haven't watched the 3D Blu-ray yet, but I saw it in 3D in theaters and thought the 3D was pretty good, on par with other MCU films.

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

Watched PACIFIC RIM 2 in 3D last night. Much like TOMB RAIDER I thought the depth effects were excellent. There were many thursting-weapons-at-the-camera moments during the fight scenes that I suppose Blu-ray.com will say should've extended ten feet into their screening room, but once again I'm content with "screen-level-and-inward" effect that should frankly be expected from most conversions.

The movie itself is a real mixed bag; entertaining, I guess, with plenty of eye candy production design and computer generated everything, but it's really dumbed-down and shallow in comparison to the original, presumably because China doesn't want any of its legitimizing tools to make its citizens think any deeper than 10-year-old children. Yeeesh. And the Mainland actors are so stiff and uncharismatic, so concerned (forced?) did the production seem to be with making their characters seem "cool" and "in charge". Used to be that adding a precocious kid to your movie franchise or TV series in a prominent role was a sign of desperation, that it had jumped the shark, and personally I think applies here. Thanks, CCP! As so many others have noted, this is literally a Power Rangers episode with monster digital horsepower.

Frankly, the 3D boost makes it all palatable, at least for fans of the format.

We also watched Pacific Rim Uprising last night and felt the same. The movie was a huge step down from the last movie. The action and fight sequences were great, but anything involving actual human beings brought the entire movie to a halt. They couldn't even get the music right. The soundtrack in the first movie kicked ass.

Actually, I just went ahead and ordered it. It's currently out of stock at Amazon, but you can still place an order. Best Buy is sold out and the WB shop is also sold out, so maybe this won't be a BF title after all since it's one of those MOD discs.

As in a burned BD-R? Or is it an Archive title now or something? My copy of this had all pressed discs. Perhaps I'm missing another context for 'MOD' here?

That's how one of the Amazon third party listings was. I was just going off that.

THIS PRODUCT IS MANUFACTURED-ON-DEMAND AND IS A DVD-R/CD-R. Sealed item.

Hopefully that's just the result of cutting/pasting the same product description across multiple item listings. I do that on my own listings to save time, but I always make tweaks where necessary. Can't imagine that's an actual MOD disc, unless they're selling bootlegs, which seems a bit odd from the usually reliable MovieMars

Re: The Official "3D" Blu ray Thread. Now with Smell-O-Vision.

For those who still have a Columbia House account, there is a $5 disc clearance sale right now.

Most are blah for that price except Guardians of the Galaxy 3D Blu Ray set.

Keep in mind there is $4.99 shipping charge no matter how many you buy unless you get over $35 for the order.

But if you have some folks you want to give GotG gifts, this is your chance to buy multiple and save on shipping.

Didn’t know Columbia House was still around or that they even ever sold Blu rays.

Just in time for my birthday! They're supposed to have a vintage 3D nudie-cutie film disc coming out too, that's one of my holy grails.

Rampage 3D doesn't sound too hot. Did anyone pick it up?
