ROTK EE Duplicate Disc Issue
 

I finally got into my EE Boxset today, but to my dismay I found that I got two Disc 2's for ROTK. I don't remember there being any uproar over printing issues when it was released, and doing a google and DVDTalk search resulted mainly in just product reviews.

So, has anyone else had this problem and/or know a way to get it fixed? I'm assuming I'll have to go to WB Customer Service, but if there's some sort of dedicated # to call that would be great. Thanks.

Why don't you contact the store where you bought it?

I got it a Best Buy over the summer when I lived on the other side of the country.

I searched some more and found a Customer Service #. I'll give it a try.

Was it obvious as in seeing 2 printed discs or is it labeled as 3 but is actually 2?

While it wasn't widespread, others did mention encountering this same issue in the main LOTR EE thread around the time of its release.

I don't have the first movie disc of ROTK, just the 2 Part Two's.

I ended up calling the Best Buy I bought it from and they say it should be alright for a switch, given a manager's approval. It's just I bought it in Maryland and then moved to California a month ago, so I have to wait until Nov to get back East and make the swap.

Thanks for the clarification. I bought mine used and checked and printed wise it is correct. I hoped it wasnt a misprint issue.

You could probably take it into any Best Buy in the country, explain the situation and make the exchange.

yeah, this, I've never swapped in different states but have done it with different stores

Yup, this is a known issue with the set. I remember somebody (probably in another forum) saying one of the movies was actually missing; they received two copies of both discs for The Two Towers and no ROTK or some such problem, plus others have reported duplicated discs.

If anyone buys, make sure you open it right away and check out the discs even if you don't plan on watching immediately.
