Mission Impossible III Blu-Ray Aspect Ratio?

My 2-disc MI III blu-ray collector's edition plays in about a fat 170 aspect, with bars on top and bottom. But, I was told it was supposed to be a skinny 2.35 aspect ratio by Amazon. The settings are all set to normal on the player. What's Up?

IMDb lists the OAR as 2.35:1. IIRC, that's what's on my BD. Not sure what's up with yours.

Just in case you're new to the format, I'll just point out that on a 16:9 display, the black bars for a 2.35:1 film aren't going to be as thick as they would be on a 4:3 display.
