Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 - 11/11/11

Got a press release from Warner that Deathly Hallows Part 2 will be released on Blu-ray combo pack (along with stand alone DVD and Digital Copy) on November 11, 2011. MSRP is $35.99.

Here are the features:
- Maximum Movie Mode: Hosted by Matthew Long (Neville Longbottom) and other cast members (80 minutes) - As the epic showdown between Harry Potter and Lord Voldemort approaches, don’t miss a single detail as the forces of good and evil clash one final time throughout the grounds of Hogwarts.
- A Conversation with J.K. Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe: Join J.K. Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe for an exclusive conversation about bringing the character of Harry Potter to life, the last decade of films and how their lives have changed by the fame that they’ve both experienced.
- The Goblins of Gringotts: osted by Warwick Davis, you’ll see the entire process of becoming a goblin in a Harry Potter film, from auditions and casting to makeup and prosthetic tests as well as filming the final scenes.
- The Women of Harry Potter: A look at the remarkable women in Harry Potter’s life and the critical role they play in the films.
- WB Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter
- Deleted Scenes

This is the first of many releases I'm sure, so a 3D release will eventually come. I'll hold out for the Ultimate Saga set or whatever WB decides to shove at us.

Meh, just announce the mega box already.

Also, why do people give a shit about getting this in 3D? It was post-converted, and I heard it added nothing to the film.

Because it's 3D. I don't get it either.

I saw this in IMAX 3D and it looked a lot better than I expected it to (never saw a converted 3D movie before.) No reason not to put out a 3D Blu-Ray of this- isn't lack of content a big reason why home 3D equipment isn't selling so hot? (I don't have a 3D TV, but will get one someday and already have a few 3D discs.)

I agree, this was one of the top notch 3D conversion jobs IMO.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 - 11/11/11

The exclusive "Harry Potter 3D Experience" bundle will accompany purchases of either Sony's BDP-S780 Blu-ray 3D disc player or the BDV-E580 Blu-ray 3D home theater system. In addition to these 3D editions, the bundle will include Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Part 2 on Blu-ray 2D, digital vouchers for the 2D versions of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets through Sony Entertainment's Video Unlimited Network or through the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation 3, and two pairs of Sony active 3D glasses - the TDG-BR250/DBL model.

I wonder if we'll have to buy a new Sony 3D HDTV to get the entire set.

Also, it looks like the US Target exclusive documentary "When Harry left Hogwarts" will be standard on the UK version...

can anyone confirm that this is true?

I found out about the special features for DH2 on Amazon.co.uk (DVDTalk won't let me post links until I hit 30 posts..sorry)

Also, UK DH part 1 has a few special features the US doesn't...is this normal? I tried to google some information on how UK and US special versions differ in general and couldn't find any discussions or lists about it...

what special features are you referring to?

here's the info that you're unable to link to (hope you don't mind):

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2 (Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) [2011][Region Free]

DH Part 2 'extras' (UK) (from Amazon.co.uk):

Extra Content
(Please note: special features are in 2D)
Maximum Movie Mode:
Aberforth Dumbledore
Deathly Hallows Costume Changes
Harry Returns to Hogwarts
The Hogwarts Shield
The Room of Requirement Set
The Fiery Escape
Neville's Stand
Molly Takes Down Bellatrix
Final Farewells from Cast and Crew
Pottermore Preview
~
When Harry Left Hogwarts
The Goblins of Gringotts
The Women of Harry Potter
Deleted Scenes
Warner Bros. Studio Tour London
A Conversation with JK Rowling and Daniel Radcliffe

Amazon.co.uk lists the extras oddly: I'm assuming the 10 featurettes under the Maximum Movie mode is what is included when the feature is engaged while the movie is being played. The items listed after the ~ (which I added myself) are the extras outside the 'Maximum Movie' option - I think, can anyone clear this up?

currently the price of the UK 3D bluray release is around five dollars less (give or take) than Best Buy's price (amazon.co.uk: 24.83, price includes P&P)

in seperate news, Best Buy will be selling the 3D editions of Deathy Hollows I and II outside the hardware bundle deal - I don't think that news was announced here on DVDTalk.

No I don't mind : )

I see what I missed....colons lol..

Looks like maybe all the special features (except for "When Harry left hogwarts" documentary) will be included in both versions...

i just wanted to have someone confirm that the UK will indeed have the documentary with the 3D version since Amazon can have misinformation in their product details sometimes...

and also because the US version will split the 3D and the Documentary... (Bestbuy and Target respectively)

I'd like the chance to own both and was looking towards the UK version..

Now to see if DH Part 1 US and UK are the same..so I can get my 3D copy at bestbuy hopefully..

Best Buy will actually be selling the the films as a BD 3D+BD+DVD+Digital Copy combo pack. Who knows how long Best Buy has the exclusivity on the sets and if the BD 3D discs will see the light of day in the eventual UE set of the franchise.

there's the rumoured news that Warner's is in the process of 3D-ing 'Half Blood Prince' and 'Order of the Phoenix' for a 3D bluray release.

Why wouldn't they? Some of the work is already done for them.

oh it's just odd that they are going backwards instead of starting with the first film. But yes, since both 'Order' and 'Half Blood Prince' already had post converted 3D for it's IMAX theatrical engagements

I HATE the big "3D" on the covers next to the title. It already says 3D on the logo up top, putting it on the cover is awful.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 - 11/11/11

Digital Bits says that all HP dvds, blu rays & box sets will stop shipping to stores on 12-29-11. Going in the old vault (a la Disney) until 2012 when the totally expected massive box set will be released. At least they aren't pulling them off the shelves since it's only a month after DH part 2's release. But stores will have to stock up on them or what they sell out for the holidays will be it.

Surprising move, won't that screw up plans for the last of the ultimate editions next yr? I'd have given it another year, but it'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

Best Buy will have exclusive 3D combo packs of parts 1 and 2 for $22.99 each. The standard combo pack of part 2 will be $19.99 and the 1-disc is $17.99.

Re: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 - 11/11/11

Now I'm glad I didn't get the ultimate editions yet - it would suck to wait another year or more to get the last two parts of the documentary. I'll wait for the inevitable box set that has the whole documentary on it, or preferably they release it separately.
