I hate that song. Ugh.

I only really enjoyed the last 20 minutes (people dying). Everything leading up to it was a snorefest. And making this 3D? WTF? What's going to be 3D about this?

I've been saying for a long time now that the film was delayed from it's initial (Sapphire) Blu-ray release for a 3D Release. Totally silly decision.

Not sure if I'll get this, as I have the 3 disc DVD version and usually don't double dip. But damn, I really, really, really enjoyed those special features and could always use more. The tour of the ship set in the first person perspective was excellent. I'm a cruise fanatic, so I was fascinated with Titanic before this movie was released. Decisions...

If your'e that into it and have a 3D Blu player and 3D TV, then hell yeah go for it.

That edition is going for like $45+ on Amazon Marketplace. I sold mine a bit ago and will upgrade to this.

I would not offload the 3 DVD set until the features are announced. The 45 minutes of deleted scenes were really fantastic & it would be a shame to lose those.

Mentioned in the bargain thread, but there's a $3 Amazon GC on ship. I pre-ordered the non-3D at 21.99, and the 3D is 27.99.

Yep, me too...I have a sinking (pardon the pun) suspicion there's not going to be quite as many extras on this version.

I have the three-disc SE as well. It was loaded with extras and there's no way I'll get rid of it until we find out what's included on the BD.

This SE set is one of the few that rivals BD as an upconverted DVD. I haven't seen the movie in years so I probably won't bother upgrading unless a big price drop happens down the road. I'm sure the ship breaking up in lossless would be awesome

I just sold my 3 disc dvd set for $38 on half.com.

Now is the time to sell it if you want any money out of it.

I think I only paid 15 bucks for it new when I first got it.

Sell on the hope that the Blu-ray includes all the DVD features? Given the history of Blu-rays not containing the bonus materials of their previous DVD releases, that's not a risk I'm willing to take...at least not with THIS movie and the bonus features on that set.

Titanic + James Cameron + 3D = Hard to pass up....considering what Avatar + James Cameron + 3D produced. Granted it's a big difference between the two but I have no doubt the 3D version will be special under Cameron.

To point out, both sets will be five-discs.

For those looking at the 2D combo pack, you have:

• 3 Blu-ray discs.
• 2 DVDs.
• Digital Copy (for iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, etc) + Ultraviolet codes.

For those looking at the 3D combo pack, you have:

• 5 Blu-ray discs.
• Digital Copy (for iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, etc) + Ultraviolet codes.

My assumption/estimate:

• The 2D version of the film will be split across two Blu-ray discs with bonus material scattered.
• A Blu-ray disc dedicated to bonus material. Remember, most of the bonus material that exists is standard definition. All of the bonus material that made its way to the DVD set could fit on a single-layer Blu-ray disc with no problem. I would even guess new bonus material will be thrown into the mix such as Titanic: The Final Word with James Cameron that aired recently.
• For those that go the 2D option, the two DVDs will be the same as what Paramount is making for retail.
• For those that go the 3D option, the two additional Blu-ray discs will be dedicated specifically for the 3D version.

The better question is with regards to the 3D version, will Cameron present it in its OAR or the IMAX-comprised version?

I think it's entirely safe to assume that the 2D version will remain in its OAR, but if he's as impressed with the modified framing for IMAX as he was for keeping Avatar at 1.78, because Cameron has said before that for home viewing 3D on a television plays better without the cinemascope borders because the screen is more immersive, then he'll probably use the IMAX ratio for 3D.

It would fit his now decades-old idea of modifying his films for home release to maximize the image size.

I just checked eBay and it's possible to get $40-50 out of it.

Wondering if it's worth the gamble to sell it off, and hope the Blu-Ray keeps all (or most) of the special features. I can live without seeing this film again until September.

On what do you base the information that these will be 5-disc sets? Nothing I've seen has indicated any number yet.

The Blu-ray.com entry for the release lists 5 discs, but I haven't seen any details anywhere else.

darn it, that's a deal-breaker for me, never bought the DVD due to that and now the same story with Blu.
Is it definitely definite? I hate the fact that I'd have watch any movie in 2 parts.

LOL. 13 years later and we still have the movie split across two units of the latest media format. I understand the reasoning, but it's still kind of funny.

For various practical reasons, I think it's always going to make a lot of sense for any movie format to be designed essentially around a typical movie running-time.
