Super 8 -- 11/22/11

I have no details, but someone on the Blu-ray.com forums reported retailers have this date listed. Since it seems completely legit, I'm posting it.

I'm also going to buy the shit out of it.

I'll get it at some point. I await great PQ/AQ and solid features like the ST BD had.

re: Super 8 -- 11/22/11

I don't see what makes this date any more legit than the other at least 2 dates reliable people have said this movie is coming out on.

Right now, Super 8 seems like the biggest blu-ray mystery release I've come across. Then again maybe this happened before with a new release that I wasn't eagerly anticipating and just didn't notice it.

If Super 8 does come out and Pooh returns to October, which has been posted by someone from Disney, that would probably make October my most expensive month ever based only on new releases.

As for catalogs, for now, only Pulp Fiction is a must have, but there's 3 titles that are just rumored for October and if they land there with a few other catalogs, it will probably be the most expensive blu ray month ever.

I wasn't looking forward to seeing this, but it turned into one of the best surprises of the year so far for me. I will absolutely buy this.

which indictaes a release date of 11/22/11.

Ok, I'd heard that date before, but 10/18 wasn't totally ruled out. Now, while it's still not official, this is enough for me to stop fretting about when the heck it will finally be released. 11/22 will be the official release date. Good for my wallet, but I hate waiting that long.

I am SO getting this as soon as it comes out. While I was watching it, I got that same warm, fuzzy, good all over feeling that I get when I watch classics like The Goonies, E.T., and even Stand By Me. You could feel vintage 70s/80s Spielberg all over the film. Just amazing.

I liked the film until we got the full reveal of the alien, and its intentions. Then I thought the film lost some steam after that. But overall, it's a pretty entertaining movie. I'll probably get it.

Ugh...all of these different release dates are giving me a headache. I wish they would hurry up and announce an official date already!

But regardless, I'm in on day one.

If you click through to the page for Super 8, it says 10/18 Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo.

I'm hoping for lots of good extras with this release.

Horrible cover art. What's with the yellow? It should be black.

^Yeah, WTF? That movie had some of the best art of the summer (the picture slice at the bottom, for example), is this supposed to look like the box for Super 8 film?

Yeah, probably. I wish they had just gone with one of the posters, but oh well...

re: Super 8 -- 11/22/11

Ugly cover, but I'll live with it. Not a big deal, but the change is weird.

Features sound solid.

Can a mod change the date to 11/22/11? Thanks.

Yeah, that cover is awful. I'm not sure how they looked at the film and determined "Hey guys, Yellow & Red is really fitting for this movie. Use lots of those on the cover."

I'll be looking for or making a custom cover with the Struzan-esque fan poster.

re: Super 8 -- 11/22/11

Someone pointed out in another forum, I forget which one, that all of the featurettes total more than 90-minutes in length.

I'll second how awful that cover art is. There's so many various other options they could've gone for... and Paramount goes for that?

They're suddenly providing some consistent 7.1 mixes, which is great. Looks like Dolby is making a comeback with some of these new Paramount titles. Aside from the occasional DreamWorks or Anchor Bay BD, Dolby True HD has been non-existent the last couple of years.

re: Super 8 -- 11/22/11

I get they're trying for a Kodak-like cover style, but it doesn't work here. oh well, just like with slip covers it doesn't matter anyways.

bring on the movie!!!
