Sleepers -- 8/2/11

I thought I'd post a thread for this severely underrated movie that not many people know about. I'd say it's one of the best of the 90's.

No special features, but the audio/video quality is first rate, according to the blu-ray.com review.

The price on Amazon is a bit high for me, I'll pay for it when it's under $15 or so ($10 seems more likely)

They have this for free on Viewtopia HD for those that have it (Cox customers, for example). Looked pretty good to me. And yes, it's a very very good movie.

I like how Kevin Bacon gets top billing (even if it's alphabetical), but doesn't appear on the cover.

Long overdue for a special edition, but at the very least I can retire my old (and last) flipper DVD.

I'll bite at around $10 or so.

A movie I haven't watched since seeing it in the theater. For some reason it really disturbed me and that doesn't really happen that often.

BluBrew actually says the opposite about the transfer: http://blubrew.com/2011/07/30/sleepers-comparison/

I completely forgot about this movie, so I rented it. All I have to say is it's extremely pedestrian for such a compelling story. Should have been ten times the film it is.

Re: Sleepers -- 8/2/11

I can confirm that it is $9 at Walmart. I went ahead and bought a copy.

I watched about 20 minutes of it and I was satisfied with the video quality. It may not be as good as the blu-ray.com review, but it's certainly a significant upgrade over the flipper DVD.
