Almodovar on Blu-ray, please!

Now that catalog has finally opened up on the Blu-ray format, I'm beginning to question my patience...

When are we going to get some Almodovar catalog titles? Does anyone have a solid understanding of current rights issues?

Personally, I'd be happy with a release in any territory, if the films are unmolested and region-free with optional English subs.

Anyone out there with an inside track?

Sony owns a good chunk of his films here in the US. Guess they really like their Almodovar. Now....if only they could get the rest of his films too.

Still No US product:
Pepi, Luci, Bom
Labyrinth of Passion

Fox Lorber:
Dark Habits
What Have I Done to Deserve This?

Image Entertainment:
Kika

MGM:
Live Flesh

Miramax:
Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!

Sony:
Matador
Law of Desire
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
The Flower of My Secret
All About My Mother
Talk to Her
Bad Education
Volver
Broken Embraces
The Skin I Live In (yes, it's not out yet...but Sony has it here for the US)

Volver and Broken Embraces have been released on blu, and presumably The Skin I Live In will be when the time comes. I'm guessing the prospects of any high-def upgrades for the other films owned by Sony will depend on sales for those titles.

For the non-Sony titles, I sure would like to see some Criterion releases!

I'd love Talk To Her on BD. His best film IMO... and that's saying a lot with his body of work.

Yeah, only Volver and BE on BD. At some point Sony will get the others on BD too. What prompted them to put them out on DVD last time? They put them out as a set too. That was nice, never got it but I wanted to when it went out.

It's unfortunate that Sony has so many, in that Sony's catalog releases are like a very slow drip. At least they tend to treat them right when they get around to them.

I didn't know that Atame! (my personal favorite) was stuck in Miramax limbo. Maybe something will happen now that there's a little movement on that front with the Lionsgate deal.

Criterion needs to get their hands on Almovodar.

Also no US product for High Heels, if we're counting everything...

They merged with Kino and are now Kino Lorber.
