What Region B titles do you own?

Having purchased an Insignia region-free player a couple of months ago, I've been stocking up on Region B titles. Although the Insignia is a bit of a hassle to region-switch with, it's reassuring to know I can buy any UK release without worry, especially the BFI's ongoing restoration of Ozu's complete surviving filmography. These are the titles I own or have on order:

Coeur Fidele
Deep End
Don't Look Now
Le Amiche
An Autumn Afternoon
Early Summer
Equinox Flower
Good Morning
Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush
The Howling
(Australia)
The Innocents
Late Autumn
Late Spring
Make Way for Tomorrow
Metropolis
The Party's Over
La signora sensa camelie
Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?
Tokyo Story
They Live
Quatermass and the Pit
Rolling Thunder

I've been on the fence about Suspiria and will probably pick up Witchfinder General when/if it drops in price.

What Region B (or C) titles do others own?

Re: What Region B titles do you own?

Not a whole lot, mostly because even during the DVD buying era for me, most foreign titles I bought were mostly Asian/HK titles, which now are Region A or free with blu ray region coding. But the official B ones I now have are:

Shallow Grave
Trainspotting
Sexy Beast
This Is Spinal Tap
Mesrine
Brotherhood of the Wolf
1492: Conquest of Paradise
American: The Bill Hicks Story
El Cid

Of course, several of these are now coming to the US. I am interested in getting Suspiria at some point.

Phenomena is it. And that probably doesn't even count since it is unlocked.

There are plenty I want though.

None yet.

Not to derail your thread, but since the Insignia is no longer made region-free thanks to the upgraded firmware (correct?), does anyone have a suggestion on a good multi-region player? There are plenty of Region B & C titles I'd like to get.

Re: What Region B titles do you own?

FYI Witchfinder General is all region. I don't think I could name all of my RB discs from memory:

The Good, The Bad, The Weird
This Is England
Son of Rambow
Fantastic Planet
Salo
Pasolini's Trilogy of Life
Rififi
The Bicycle Thieves
Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?
Confessions
Cold Fish

Probably at least 15 more. FWIW Deep End is all region, I got my screener yesterday. Looking forward to check it out.

I was curious about this myself. Trying to find a good and reasonably priced zone free(not region, that's DVD) player.

It's a strange film - much of it plays like a teen sex-comedy/zany satire, before an unsettling twist near the end.

Re: What Region B titles do you own?

I think this is a complete list of everything I've imported from the UK. What's actually coded region B as opposed to region-free, I don't really know off the top of my head:

The 39 Steps
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane
Almost Famous
A Bay of Blood
Belle du jour
Black Book
Black Narcissus
Brief Encounter (1945)
The Burmese Harp
City Girl
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Eden Lake
The Edge of the World
The Elephant Man
Escape from New York
Une femme mariee
Great Expectations (1946)
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Inferno (1980)
The Innocents
Junebug
The Kid (1921)
The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner
M
Make It Happen (which I got Mary Elizabeth Winstead to autograph )
Martyrs
Metropolis
Monsters, Inc.
Paranoiac
Peeping Tom
La Planete Sauvage
Pontypool
Profound Desires of the Gods
The Red Shoes
The Seventh Seal
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans
Suspiria
Tin Man
Transformers: The Movie

Just for the hell of it, I think this is everything I've imported from Canada:

Amelie
City of God
Fanboys
The Ghost Writer
Final Destination 2
Final Destination 3

I get a Harold & Maude vibe from the trailer, though that may just be the Cat Stevens talking.

Re: What Region B titles do you own?

Only a few so far. I mostly only get them if they have some cool exclusive that the US version doesn't or if it's cheaper.

Back to the Future: 25th Anniversary Tin
The Bourne Collection
Inception (Briefcase)

I'm assuming your referring to another version and not the French edition of The Elephant Man which can playback on Region A players.

In terms of Canadian releases I've got
- Amelie
- City of God
- From Dusk til Dawn

how are the A/V quality of the Final Destination 2 and 3?

It might be the same disc, but I definitely ordered it from amazon.co.uk. I don't remember what the region code is off the top of my head.

2 is fairly mediocre and is heavily speckled. I seem to remember that most of the extras have been nixed. 3 looks solid, although there are no extras, and the mattes have been opened up...not OAR.

Re: What Region B titles do you own?

I've been away from my Blu-ray collection for awhile but I'd wager:

Leon: The Professional -- the title that made me go region free
The Graduate -- much better than the domestic release
La Haine -- Criterion, what's the hold up?
Metropolis -- MoC Woot!
Le Mepris (Contempt) -- Fine release.
Belle du Jour --
City Girl -- Beautiful.
Mad Detective -- I'll watch this eventually.
Sunrise -- Again, beautiful.
Pulp Fiction -- Imported from Norway. Great A/V.
Cache -- Great movie, inexpensive disc.
Brick -- Love it.

I think that's it.

Not really. The only B-locked titles I have are Pasolini's trilogy of life, Metropolis, The Fantastic Planet and Akira, all UK releases. All my other titles are either region free or region A.

Pretty much the only European release I can think of I'd recommend over the US release is The Thing which doesn't omit most of the DVD extras like the North-American release.

thankfully Universal didn't region lock it, so one can easily import it.

Re: What Region B titles do you own?

Even with all of the Ozu in my collection, the Region B title that's given me the most enjoyment is The Howling. It's not reference quality, and it was a bit pricey (around $32 shipped from Australia), but it's one of my all-time favorites, and certainly an improvement on the DVD. With no imminent news on a US release (though there is that triple-feature abomination), it may be the only way to go for hardcore fans.

Re: What Region B titles do you own?

Akira
Saturday Night and Sunday Morning
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Metropolis

Not much, but I'm making the effort to slowly start adding more BFI and Eureka/MOC releases.
