Holy shit? I hope these get the same treatment that the first film did on Blu-Ray.

holy shit!!!! now we're getting somewhere...bring on the rest! (4 + 5 double feature / FREDDY'S DEAD + NEW NIGHTMARE double feature)

i'm hoping it's a race to see which of the big 3 franchises will all be on blu-ray first

Yeah, hopefully 4/5 & 6/7 double features follow suit.

Here's hoping for a box set of all of the damn movies.

Hmm, don't know about it being a double feature. Hopefully it will be a good quality disc. The only essential ones for me are 1, 3 & 7.

For reals?

2 is very underrated and the unintentional "repressed homosexuality" subtext to the movie actually makes it an interesting rewatch.

If I recall correctly from Never Sleep Again, the director claimed to be unaware of the homoerotic tone, but the scriptwriter and certainly the gay lead actor were. I think it's an incoherent mess of a film, but I'd probably bite for $9.99 just to get III. I assume this is a BD-50? Perhaps the films will receive separate discs, as with the Legend double features. Some extras would be nice - Dokken in HD, anyone? - but I'm not holding my breath.

If we get anything other than HD trailers, I'd be amazed.

For $15 I'd probably bite.

2 was horrific though.

September is shaping up to be a very good month for horror fans:

Basket Case
Blood Trilogy
NOES II/III
They Live
Quatermass and the Pit
Dead of Night
House by the Cemetary

Plus Halloween II/III, Dark Night of the Scarecrow, Zombie and The Frighteners (UK) in October.

I still think they should have released a box set of all the Nightmare films when they released the first movie to tie in with the remake. I mean yes, it's good that they're starting to release the sequels on Blu-Ray, but I get the same feeling I do now with catalog TV on DVD: if it doesn't sell, we won't see the rest of them. I mean we've seen that with the Friday The 13th films, we could see it here, too.

Although in this case since the discs are double-features we'd only need two more releases to complete the series.

Paramount could double feature the F13s as well (along with Warner)

Re: A Nightmare On Elm Street 2 + 3----9/27/2011

They could easily fit both films (183 minutes total) on one BD-50 with DTS HD-MA 5.1 AND all the respective bonus material for the two films from the Nightmare on Elm Street collection since all of that content is SD.

I'll probably pick this up but I sorta wish it wasn't a double feature. Now Paramount needs to get off their asses and release the rest of the Friday The 13th series.

Paramount barely releases catalog - so continuing the F13 films is probably not going to happen anytime soon. Maybe they can license them to Lionsgate.

 Yup, that entire segment on Nightmare 2 was pretty hilarious.

I hope this encourages the release of New Nightmare eventually. Then will my brain explode.

Especially Mark Patton's revelation that his dance sequence is still in regular rotation on gay clubs' TV monitors.

And the reason I still have it saved on my DVR. Good laughs there.

Yeah it sucks. My two favorite sequels are The Final Chapter and Jason Lives, but I'd pick the entire series up if they'd release them.

I'll definitely pick this up regardless, but I really wish New Line wouldn't be treating the series as a "budget release" - I would really like some new features, even if its just audio commentaries and deleted scenes...

Yeah I agree. I think "Never Sleep Again" pretty much covered any type of featurettes or documentaries that could be made. Really just needs a commentary and deleted scenes!

NoirFan, do you mean UK They Live in September or is it coming to the US too?
