Landis said in an interview some time ago that he supervised the BB transfer. Did he also supervise AWiL, because I know that got good marks (worried about Universal's love of DNR and EE).

Still hoping Criterion will put out Dazed on Blu.

I will get all of those except Dazed And Confused. I'm going to wait and see if Criterion releases their own version of that one...

Blu-ray.com has the US version of Dazed and Confused set for July 25, which is a Monday. So I guess they mean July 26. I'm assuming the other titles are the same US date.

I'm in for all except BB.

I'm in for BB and nothing else. (As long as it has the theatrical edition)

I'll hold out for the eventual Criterion release of Dazed and Confused.

I'm in for the other three as long as Universal hasn't DNR'd them to all hell.

Since these are likely HD DVD ports, I'd probably grab Dazed and Fast Times once they hit sub$10ish.

I hope Brazil proves the window between Universal Blu and Criterion Blu is consistent.

Blues wasn't on HD-DVD, was it?

No, it wasn't. If it had been, I would have bought it! ;)

Blues is expensive for a catalogue title. I was hoping to get a two disc package with the sequel for around that price =(

These will be great....with the exception of Dazed And Confused. I cannot tell you how much I hate that movie. It may be on Avatar levels of brain numbing boring. But Blues Brothers, Fast Times, and to a slightly lesser extent, Animal House are incredible. My favourite college movie is PCU.

Agreed. "D&C" is like "American Graffiti" minus charm, wit, or a point. Speaking of which...May 31st can't come fast enough.

i'll pick them all up but i'll wait a bit on D&C to see if criterion releases a version and BB better have both cuts.

Dazed and Confused is one of my favorite movies, but I don't smoke pot or anything like the characters in the movie (I don't even DRINK!) Since that movie is now older than the events portrayed in it were when it was released, they should make a new movie like that which takes place in 1993.
(And no, I'm not offended by the negative comments, unlike someone who got one of my criticisms of a certain movie deleted.)
Dazed and Confused was intentionally washed-out, but the laserdisc transfer ruined it by cleaning it up. The HD-DVD looks a lot more like the theatrical prints did.

BTW prices shown on that site are in Canadian dollars- US dollars are a bit less.

Fixed.

The Canadian Dollar is worth 5% more than the U.S. dollar. Catalogue titles usually end up being priced the same, if not cheaper in Canada.

Amazon.com now has Blues Brothers listed at $24.49 as opposed to the $21.xx at Amazon.ca. (Either price is still too much to pay anyways)

I imagine the prices will come down, but it's not too much for me given how much I love that movie.

Surprised to see praise for the sequel here and at Amazon. It's pretty unrelentingly awful, in my opinion, aside from the surprisingly bittersweet scene right at the beginning when Frank Oz comes out to tell Elwood his brother isn't coming.

DC is one of my all time favorite movies. In day one regardless of price.

Richard Linklater did make a movie based on Austin around that time... it's called Slacker... which is subsequently now being remade right now by a bunch of Austin filmmakers independently to update it to 2011.

The movie itself wasn't very good but the music was awesome.

The second Blues Brothers wasn't a horrible movie. Well, it certainly wasn't as bad as some of the movies that have come out lately and in the last few years. It was certainly better than Dazed And Confused.

I don't think they've ever timed releases of that film to the actual Fourth of July in the past anyway.

Jaws, on the other hand, has traditionally been a summer release. What is the hold-up there? We got some Dreamworks Spielberg titles a year ago.
