Pinocchio Blu-ray Exchange Program

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/hd-talk/540...ng-2009-a.html I did see the info I was coming to post was posted in this thread http://forum.dvdtalk.com/hd-talk/578...-question.html but this would likely get lost for those who aren't aware Walt Disney Studios is offering replacement Blu-ray discs for owners of the 70th Anniversary Blu-ray edition of Pinocchio affected by a reported audio issue. Simply call 1-800-723-4763 and speak with a representative to receive an envelope by which to mail in your Blu-ray disc. A corrected BD will be sent to you once the defective disc is received. The audio issue involves two missing lines in the song, "Give a Little Whistle." Thanks to forum member "disneyboy81." |

sooo...disney gets your disc first and then you get the corrected one? why they need the original? Can they do anything w/ it?

Well I will be interested to try this. Funny how in the original thread some people got pissed about people wanting the dialogue back in and kept saying it was insignificant, but I guess others were vocal and Disney listened.

Is this exchange only open to US/Canada residents?
I was wondering if it only effected earlier copies (thats when I bought mine), if I bought the Region A BD now would it be fixed? :confused: |

got my return label yesterday but they don't send an envelope (as noted in an update from the original link above)
Update: Blu-ray.com has heard from Disney directly about its recently released exchange program. They have passed along some additional information to try to answer some questions. Disney has recommended customers contact Disney Consumer Relations via email at [email protected] for assistance with replacing the Blu-ray discs. Disney offers limited e-mail support on nights and weekends. Please supply the following information: full name, phone number, mailing address, Blu-ray stock number and Blu-ray lot number (found on the shiny side of the disc beginning with BVDL). In response, Disney will send: A pre-paid, return-mailing label which will pay for postage via USPS. An envelope will not be included. A Product Information Form for all Blu-ray support that asks that the Blu-ray disc be returned in its case. However, for the purpose of this program, please ignore this message and only send disc 1. Return the disc to Disney: The disc can be placed in any type of package and does not need to be in a jewel or hard case. Be sure to include the Product Information Form along with the disc as this will ensure the quickest processing time. |

Is there any way to tell which one is corrected in store? Through the replacement program, is there any chance they'd just let you buy a corrected disc one? I got mine on day of release, but I'd like to keep it for collector's sake, ya know? I wouldn't mind buying a corrected one before they go back to the vault, though.

I just watched my BD yesterday, and it's not affected. However, the DVD in my set is affected. Here's info on what the problem actually is (for people like me who didn't already know):

More specifically: From the main menu (choose "Full Menu" on BD), choose Bonus Features > Music & More > Disney Song Selection > "Give a Little Whistle". Just over 30 seconds in, when Pinocchio yells "Jiminy Cricket!", Jiminy should respond "Right!"; if not, you have the problem. The other missing line is at the end of the song; as Pinocchio stumbles into some metal cups, you should barely hear Jiminy saying "Watch out, Pinoke!" amid the ruckus. Out of curiosity, I checked both the 7.1 mix and original mono on my BD, and both are fine, while both the 5.1 mix and mono mix on the DVD are affected. Also, according to the comments on that article, Disney is not exchanging the DVD.

Hmmm...I have a pretty recent copy of this that I haven't watched yet. I'll have to check it out and see if I have a corrected one.

Out of curiosity, I checked both the 7.1 mix and original mono on my BD, and both are fine, while both the 5.1 mix and mono mix on the DVD are affected. As I got my BD in-store, it's probably likely you'll get a corrected disc if you buy it now, but there's always the chance of a retailer still having stock of the defective disc. I don't think there's a way to tell without opening it. Both defective and corrected sets have the same spine number (100057). However, once opened, the disc itself may have an indicator on it without playing it. On the Blu-ray.com article, two people commented that they were asked for the number on the inner ring on the data side of the BD when requesting an exchange. On their defective BDs, the numbers on the inner ring were BVDL-042810A1 & BVDL-042810B1. On my corrected BD, the numbers are BVDL-046090A1 & BVDL-046090B1. It's doubtful. It's an exchange program, so it's not set up to sell the disc. Also, there's potential for abuse from people who'd simply want disc one cheap. |

Thanks for posting. Just checked mine and it appears I have the correct version of the Blu-ray. That saves me the hassle of sending the disc and waiting for a replacement.
I would have never even noticed this. It's crazy that Disney actually replaced it for such a small omission, but I'm glad they did. |
