Gettysburg is a good movie, but the fake beards in it look really, really bad. (They even look terrible in the cover art. You'd think the studio would pick a different image.) I imagine that high-def will only expose this problem even more.

Gettysburg is a "most wanted" for me but I'll probably just put it on my birthday and fathers day list which are both in June.

Gods and Generals wasn't fond of enough to own that one.

I hope they have it in regular packaging. Don't like the special packages.

^ same

but I'm very interested in seeing the longer cut of G&G since it restores the John Wilke Booth story (which I've seen in script form)

I loved both and have been longing for the promised extended cut of Gods and Generals. An extended cut of Gettysburg makes me even more excited.

Now I wonder if they'll finally get around to making a film adaptation of The Last Full Measure.

I'll definitely pick up Gettysburg. Gods and Generals will get a rental.

Cool news...never thought we'd see the long rumored near 5 hour cut of Gods & Generals. Gettysburg only looks to be extended by 10 minutes.

G&G is supposedly recut from beginning to end according to the PR.

I've never seen the entire movie beginning to end. I watched a large part while my son was watching it and didn't care for it nearly as much as Gettysburg. My son didn't like it so I've never bothered with a second try. I'll certainly rent G&G and give it a fair shot, but I don't buy anything any more unless I'm sure it's a repeat worthy movie

This. Love the Shaara novels, and love both movies. These will be a release day purchase for me.

I'll likely pick up both (G&G mostly a curiosity).

The restoration of The Battle of Antietam alone makes G and G a must. Gettysburg is already a classic fake beards or not.

Meh. Giftsets don't appeal to me anymore. I just want the movies and not more crap that'll just collect dust.

Ditto. That book looks pretty sweet but I have enough dust collectors in the house

That's funny, so if you want the movies in regular blu ray cases you have to buy the collectors set.

That's actually a nice giftset. Instead of just a figurine or whatever that will collect dust, you can actually look through and study the books and maps.

I've had the DVDs sitting unwatched on my shelf for ages, but this is starting to look like something I might buy now.

The box set is mighty tempting. I'm a sucker for these things. A nice B&N 50% coupon would work quite nicely on this.

I think I will stick with the digibooks for this one. That box set looks too big.

I'm worried about how they are fitting these 4 hour each movies onto 1 BD each, as you see the special features discs are just DVDs.
