That's too bad. I really want to see (and buy) more titles that are/were mods as DVDs and/or blurays. I was looking forward to this one.

I believe all of their releases so far have been B, so this will probably be the same. KC, you didn't try your luck with one of those Insignias?

I was leery because of the reported firmware upgrade that disables that unlock feature. Are they still selling them?

Apparently you can install the earlier firmware if the player you buy is one of the newer ones that's region-locked, but I'm not sure how you'd go about getting the earlier firmware. If you poke around online, you can probably find more info.

Does Blu-ray.com no longer allow you to link from the larger cover art? I was only able to copy the smaller image, but copied the larger one from their forum.

re: Rolling Thunder (1977) -- 1/30/12

A bit more info, from Studio Canal:

Our release is currently set for early 2012.

I do apologize for the inconvenience the changes have meant for you, unfortunately this is often out of our hands as it relies on delivery of materials from outside sources. We set a release date in good faith having been given an estimate of when to expect delivery, but then if this changes, we have to reschedule.

Wow, not sure what genre of films you typically like, but I've seen the film multiple times with first time viewers, and never have any reaction from people except praise.

It's a very hard gritty 70's revenge that grindhouse fans salivate over. But beyond that, i think the acting is great, and writing is superb.

actually one of my favorite Paul Schrader screenplays.

Re: Rolling Thunder (1977) -- 1/30/12

The cover for the upcoming blu now has a MASSIVE Blu + DVD banner at the top. Not something I'd normally care about, but it kills the cover. Still will enjoy owning it though.

I know, it seems like it's been delayed half a dozen times. Between this and the slew of upcoming Hammer films, it looks like my Insignia will be working overtime.

Hooray! A catalog title encoded *correctly*, WITH the natural film grain! No tinkering, DNR, or other silliness has been applied, according to the review.
I'll definitely be importing this, hoping to send a big THANK YOU to Studio Canal's encoding house for doing this one right.
