Re: James Bond Update

I find it sad that some of my favorite James Bond movies were getting/supposed to be getting individual releases this week, and by the end of the week the only new James Bond Blu-Ray that I have to show for it is a View to a Kill.

Re: James Bond Update

Found all of the exclusives at Walmart and Target, picked them up. Would rather have the individual releases than the big box set. Shelf space is not really my friend for bulk sets.

The set is actually tiny though. It might be an odd size, but I'm pretty sure it's smaller than 22 cases wide.

Re: James Bond Update

I hope they include the extras with the deleted Bond Women scenes with Diane Keaton and Jodie Foster.

Re: James Bond Update

A local Walmart finally put up their Bond display!

Picked up Goldfinger. So happy right now.

Re: James Bond Update

None of the Best Buys here have even heard about their exclusives, and they can't even find them in their computer system. Best Buy couldn't have screwed this up worse if they'd tried.

Everything I've read has said Oct 23rd for their release date.

They could screw it up worse by doing what Target did (1 or 2 per store), or Walmart (some stores have them, some don't - and good luck finding the display if they do).

The whole thing is a mess.

At least Walmart had theirs available for preorder on their website months ago. Still nothing on bestbuy.com.

I'll agree with that. I haven't been to Target yet, but two of the Walmarts in town had no idea what I was talking about. The third had a cardboard sleeve advertising the Bond Blu-rays over the anti-theft devices at the entrance and the big display in the Blu-ray department. This whole thing is just all over the place.

Re: James Bond Update

Comment:
I purchased the USA/"A" Blu-Ray release of "BOND 50" from my local Best Buy release week due to gift card and reward zone discounts..

Manly it was less costly to purchase this set than it would of been for me to of purchased the missing DVD/Blu-RAY's to complete full 20 movie collection.

The main question that I have is: >Drum roll<
Is there anything on any of the older DVD or Blu-Ray releases not on the disc's in the "BOND 50" Set?
From what I can tell from sites such as "DVD COMPARE" all the features on the DVD's (whether it might be a two disc set or a single disc when first released) are on the Blu-Ray releases and the only difference in the "Bond 50 Set" when compared to the older Blu-Ray's is that most disc's in the "Set" (it seems that the "Special Features" disc is region locked?) discs are region free?

Is this info correct? Or is there a reason to hold onto the older DVD release?

Re: James Bond Update

Seems like the only major extras from previous releases missing are from the 2nd disc of the Casino Royale special edition and the 2nd disc from the old SE of Tomorrow Never Dies.

Re: James Bond Update

Too lazy to read back to verify, but I think some of them have also dropped the "Mission Control" features.

You mean the 2nd disc from Die Another Day.

God, those title are all so innocuous and interchangeable, I have no idea what I mean.

What was the "Mission Control" feature? As I can only guess that I did not have the disc's that had that feature??

It was on the Ultimate Edition DVD sets (and previously released BDs) and was (IMO of course) kind of a waste of space. It was mostly clips from the Bond film you just watched classified by topic--the girls, the villains, etc. However, there were also some brief featurettes on filming locations and the opening titles to the films without the actual text on screen, which was kind of cool.

I haven't gone through all the BDs yet, but this feature seems to be deleted on the nine newly released titles. The re-released BD titles still have it.

Finally got a copy of the only one I wanted, Diamonds Are Forever, I'm a Connery-only fan.

Had to go to a more urban location where the display had 5-6 of each exclusive title. Of course they were probably still there because the 2-sided display was against an end cap, with the BD side hidden. Funny that the suburban location that had none the exclusives left had the other/DVD side of the display against another display. 2 sides must be a difficult concept for some of the WM folks.

My favorite as well.

I think it's a combination of the fabulous Shirley Bassey song, the great score, and the chatty assassins.

Re: James Bond Update

I threw up my dvd's on ebay after i bought this set, with Never say never again included. The final auction went for 128.. I was flabbergasted as you could have bought the new dvd set for cheaper. I don't understand people.

Re: James Bond Update

It looks like it's indicating it's on the Bond titles, which would kind of make them no-brainers.

Yeah they are something else, very ummm interesting relationship between the two of them! And one of them is Crispin Glover's father. Kind of blew my mind when I saw that on IMDB.

Right, but the footnote says it should be on other titles as well.
