Generally, when a colorist adds a blue or teal tint intentionally, those colors will look more saturated than what I see in that trailer.

Given the post in the Arrow Video blog about the film elements for these movies being in poor shape, I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt that this is the best they could do with them.
That was what I was looking for. Thanks for answering the question.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread

I've never seen blue color fading. Seen my share of reddish/pink tint fading though. A good tell for color fading is fade outs. When a source material is damaged with color fading it will get worse when a scene fades out. Faded color makes a film brighter, as the scene begins to fade there is a brief flicker of it getting brighter before going black.

Interesting.

Wonder who will have the better release of To Live And Die In LA or Howling 2?

On their FB page, Arrow mentions (in terms of P/Q):

To Live and Die In L.A.
Brand new 4K restoration from the original 35mm negative supervised and approved by director William Friedkin

The Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf
Brand new digital transfer

If Shout/Scream & Arrow are working with the same elements, I always go with Arrow.

According to the Press Release it is. Looks like the 4K Restoration will be done exclusively for that release.

Arrow Video always give a sporting effort in securing the best elements and striking new transfers. I wouldn't call all of their own transfers perfect, but they get it right more often than not.

I wouldn't worry.

Easily one of my more prized Blu-rays. While it hurts the resale value, I am glad more people will be able to pick it up. It's a great set.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread

Some interesting new titles from Arrow.

Here's the extras for The Guyver

PART HUMAN. PART ALIEN. PURE SUPERPOWER.
Mark Hamill (Star Wars) and the team behind horror classic Re-animator join forces for this electrifying live-action adaptation of Yoshiki Takaya’s celebrated manga series!
Having been smuggled out of the mysterious Chronos Corporation by one of its researchers, a bio-weapon known as the “Guyver” unit – which transforms its holder into a lethal super-being – ends up in the hands of Sean, a young martial arts student. Sean soon finds himself in the sights of the Chronos Corporation and its mutant henchmen, who’ll stop at nothing to retrieve the weapon.
Produced by Brian Yuzna (Society, Bride of Re-animator) and co-directed by special-effects masters Screaming Mad George and Steve Wang, The Guyver is an FX-laden extravaganza featuring a plethora of familiar genre faces such as Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes) and David Gale (Re-animator).
SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTS:
•Brand new digital transfer of the Director’s Cut
•High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentations
•Original uncompressed audio
•Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing
•Brand new interview with producer Brian Yuzna
•Trailer
•Image Gallery
•Reversible sleeve featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Nick Percival
•Limited Edition O-card
FIRST PRESSING ONLY: Fully-illustrated collector’s booklet featuring new writing on the film

I remember seeing The Guyver back in the early 90's. I recall it was a direct to video release and was quite cheesy, but fun. Really surprised to see it get a big release on BD.

Brian T. mentioned that Arrow's UK site usually has a sale around November. I'll look into maybe getting a few things then.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread

Damn I was very excited when I saw PULSE is getting a release, only to have my hopes crashed down when I see it's the 2004 film, as opposed to the wonderful film entitled PULSE from 1988.

Arrow should consider that one. Who doesn't love electricity going crazy?

One thing to keep in mind with Donnie Darko is that Richard Kelly made a dumb decision to shoot the entire movie on film stock intended for extreme low-light photography. Even the daylight scenes are shot that way. Doing so made the picture very soft and killed the contrast. He said at the time that he felt it made the movie look "dreamy" or something.

A new 4k scan may help somewhat, but the movie's photography will always have issues.

Looks like I still need the Anchor Bay DVDs for the exclusive extras, but I'm definitely getting this. I wonder what's the rights situation with Part III. I bet Lionsgate lost the rights because I doubt they would license it out to Arrow and for cheap either.

I still have my Lament Configuration Box Set (BD/DVD) that Anchor Bay released, so having that and purchasing this upcoming release will make me really happy.
