Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon

Amazon stopped selling the 2-disc and posted this note:

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

Yeah. I assume the 2 disc set is fine. Played in both my Sony player in the bedroom and my Oppo just fine. Besides, those two discs are the same included in the larger set, are they not?

Perhaps I missed it but has there been any word on a 6-disc standard version?

I don't want the 2-disc version but also don't really want the oversized box, postcards, book, etc...

The 2-disc set is down to $17.49.

The 6-disc set is only available by third party sellers.

Or at Barnes and Noble. I have seen copies at both of my local stores as of today.

Best Buy has some too.

Could it just be They've gone through the limited 100,000 numbers already and can't get anymore?

From what I've heard, there are a lot of people returning their sets due to damaged dvds.

I need to check mine then, even though all discs were firmly packed in when I actually opened it.

And for those of us who still watch the movie when it airs on TV, its on this Sat.

I'm in the same boat. I want the discs, but not the extra junk.

Now, it's been reduced to $16.99! That's why I never order Blu-rays when their first release, because they always reduce the prices, later on. All you have to do is wait. I ordered The Ten Commandments, along with xXx: State of the Union, and King of Kings. I know the customers who've purchased it for $24.99 on day one, are regretting it.

I've just viewed The Ten Commandments blu-ray, and the picture quality looks astonishing. You wouldn't believe, this movie was made 55 years ago! The clarity, and sharpness is just breathtaking. For those of you who've purchased it, you're in for a treat. It's well worth the wait, and more! Kudo's to Paramount for their remarkable restoration of this marvelous classic on Blu-ray.

I cannot agree more. I watched this with my friends over Easter Sunday and everybody was commenting on how good this movie looked. Absolutely CRAZY.

100,000% agree.

One of the most AMAZING VQ I have in my collection (for a live action movie, Pixar BRs are the best VQ around).

My wife is blown away on the VQ for the Movie, she noticed as soon as she looked the HDTV.

"Paramount returned to its original VistaVision Technicolor camera negatives and scanned them at 6K resolution" - This shows how Cheap/Bad the 35mm films are, VistaVision is somewhat like IMAX, and if you know the IMAX scenes from The Dark Knight, you know how good IMAX is.

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon

I've yet to watch mine, but the stone tablet case is a bit of a pain, as awesome as it looks; one of the two-disc holder flaps has the actual holding tabs broken off on BOTH sides, meaning two discs will simply rattle inside the case.

I kind of want to contact Paramount or Amazon over getting a new page so I can replace it, but the odds are that I'm screwed because I'm Finnish (Paramount) or they want me to send back the whole box (Amazon), in which case I might as well Macguyver something together from some spare plastic CD sleeves...but before I do that, I still think I'd rather get a replacement holder. Any suggestions?
