Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
The BDs in my set are in good shape, but 2 of the dvds aren't, but not a big deal since I doubt I'll watch those. Not sure why it is, but box sets always seem to be more prone to scratched discs, even if they're securely on the hubs.
No packaging issues though. Getting the discs underneath the flip trays is a bit of a chore. I thought I was going to break the BD disc 3 while trying to remove it. |
Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
So if I don't want all of the extra stuff, is the only major difference between the CE and the normal Blu, the documentary? And for that matter, is that the doc that's on the newest CE DVD, which I have. I would like to pick up the normal Blu, but the doc sounds interesting, although not necessarily $40 extra interesting.

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
Thank you B&N 50% off coupon, as well as membership card and extra 10% B&N took off since it was a new release this week.
Bought the Collector's Edition for under $40. #58,358 or something like that. LOL not looking at it right this second. Can't wait to watch it, the extras looked great. And no problems with any of the disc when opening the package, other then confusion at first as to how to get to the two discs behind the DVD version. But figured that one out quickly. |
Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
Same here. I actually almost bought this for $60 at BB on Tuesday. Glad I waited, picked it up for $36.44 today at B&N with that awesome coupon.
Got set #86,711 |
Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
Thanks to BN and more to DVDTalk. If I wasn't a member here, I wouldn't have known about this great deal. As soon as I read about the coupon I looked for my Target receipt from Wednesday and checked my local BN if they had it in stock. They did and I got it for $36.44 as well. Returning my Target purchase tomorrow. :D

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
My Amazon order finally came in. Those tablets are a b**ch to get the discs out! Whoever designed this was not on Heaven's side...
Set# 4,020. |
Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
Anyone have the actual artwork to print out and put in a multi disc case? I'm thinking about getting a case that will hold at least the 3 BDs and put them in there and on my shelf.

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
After finally getting a chance to really check out my set I realized that someone put the magnets it so that they repel each other. Damn idiot! Now I'm going to return the set and get another one so that the tablets actually stay together.

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
Good thing that I didn't buy the collector's set yet. I was really tempted since I'm a sucker for good and unique packaging. But when I saw that picture of Moses was peeling off at my local store, I decided it wasn't worth the price. And with all the other trouble this set seem to have, looks like I made the right choice. I will still get it if I can get the set for less than $40, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it even if I end up not getting the set.

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
I saw #2,021 today at Sams Club, but for me, this set is just too much.

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
Amazon stopped selling the 2-disc and posted this note:
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!) We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible. |

Yeah. I assume the 2 disc set is fine. Played in both my Sony player in the bedroom and my Oppo just fine. Besides, those two discs are the same included in the larger set, are they not?

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
Perhaps I missed it but has there been any word on a 6-disc standard version?
I don't want the 2-disc version but also don't really want the oversized box, postcards, book, etc... |
Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
The 2-disc set is down to $17.49.
The 6-disc set is only available by third party sellers. |

Best Buy has some too.
Could it just be They've gone through the limited 100,000 numbers already and can't get anymore? |
Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
From what I've heard, there are a lot of people returning their sets due to damaged dvds.

Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
I need to check mine then, even though all discs were firmly packed in when I actually opened it.
And for those of us who still watch the movie when it airs on TV, its on this Sat. |

I've just viewed The Ten Commandments blu-ray, and the picture quality looks astonishing. You wouldn't believe, this movie was made 55 years ago! The clarity, and sharpness is just breathtaking. For those of you who've purchased it, you're in for a treat. It's well worth the wait, and more! Kudo's to Paramount for their remarkable restoration of this marvelous classic on Blu-ray.

I cannot agree more. I watched this with my friends over Easter Sunday and everybody was commenting on how good this movie looked. Absolutely CRAZY.
One of the most AMAZING VQ I have in my collection (for a live action movie, Pixar BRs are the best VQ around). My wife is blown away on the VQ for the Movie, she noticed as soon as she looked the HDTV. "Paramount returned to its original VistaVision Technicolor camera negatives and scanned them at 6K resolution" - This shows how Cheap/Bad the 35mm films are, VistaVision is somewhat like IMAX, and if you know the IMAX scenes from The Dark Knight, you know how good IMAX is. |
Re: The Ten Commandments up for pre-order 3/29/11 at Amazon
I've yet to watch mine, but the stone tablet case is a bit of a pain, as awesome as it looks; one of the two-disc holder flaps has the actual holding tabs broken off on BOTH sides, meaning two discs will simply rattle inside the case.
I kind of want to contact Paramount or Amazon over getting a new page so I can replace it, but the odds are that I'm screwed because I'm Finnish (Paramount) or they want me to send back the whole box (Amazon), in which case I might as well Macguyver something together from some spare plastic CD sleeves...but before I do that, I still think I'd rather get a replacement holder. Any suggestions? |
