Got my copy as soon as Target opened. They probably had 20 copies out with none in the back.

Didn't see any of the standard Black Swan Blu-rays at Target this morning, only the exclusive. They are indeed three-disc, center-tray clear cases (not a two-disc arrangement with a third in an envelope, like Robin Hood), and it's a pretty sharp-looking set with different disc artwork on each.

Quoting these guys because they're both right. My Target didn't have any standard copies either.

Nobody who says "holla holla" is ever right.

My Target had tons of both versions. Got the red, but the exclusive sticker was almost impossible to get off perfectly.

Picked up the Target version. This is probably a first where a store exclusive has the best package (DVD included), lowest price ($19.99 for a new release should be standard) and best cover art. No reason to buy Black Swan anywhere else.

Yeah, was kinda annoyed at that sticker, will be leaving it on. It's very different from the stickers on disney releases. Leave way too much residue.

Was this film this grainy in theaters?

I had ordered the normal version from Amazon, but Target cover looked much cooler than expected so I picked it up this morning. I'll be sending my Amazon order back.

Is the clear case an eco-case? I f'n hate those. Fingers crossed that it isn't.

Negative. Standard three-disc case.

I got mine off pretty easily. Used the sticker itself to take off any sticky residue that was left over.

For anyone who is worried about not getting this on release day, like others my local store had tons of copies. This was at 1pm as well.

Hooray for non-Eco Case!!

EDIT: Jinxed myself. As I finished typing that I noticed that the plastic wrap on the Blu-Ray is completely stuck to the spine of the case

Re: Black Swan (Aronofsky, 2010) -- 3/29/2011

Kinda torn now. I pre-ordered (with 5$ down) at Best Buy before I knew Target would have the extra disc. What I got in return was $5 off a disc I was buying anyway (Almost Famous)... but I'm considering just ditching the preorder because even with the $5 already down, that brings the total to 17.99, which is only 2 bucks less than going with the Target version. I don't really see a need to have the DVD, because I will be watching this sucker in Blu Ray... but, it IS an extra disc and who knows when I'll want to lend it to a HD-less friend or take it on a plane with my laptop or something.... hmmmmm.....

If only they had included some kind of additional, portable copy of the movie, perhaps in digital form....

Uh, yes.

So, anyway, just took a look at the terms of the preorder and it looks like if I don't redeem it, it expires in 2 weeks and I can go get a refund of the $5 deposit. So... I'll have had my five bucks off of Almost Famous, go next door to Target and get Black Swan with both digital and DVD copies in addition to the Blu Ray.. and then I get to go back to Best Buy and let them hand me five bucks. I think that's a no-brainer.

Best Buy blew it with this pricing. By charging 22.99 for this release while the Target next door has it for 19.99 with an extra disc, I think they may find a lot of savvy customers bailing on the preorder.

Yeah I noticed, I've never seen it this bad on a release. It seems like it mostly just happens with Fox releases. I wish they would just switch to using shrink wrap to package these.

Best Buy is $22.99 in-store, but you can price-match their website, which has it for $19.99. It's part of their policy, so don't let them deny you.

That does change things... gotta think about this. I've never tried to price match before and just assumed that they always squirm their way out of it and make you fight for it.

Re: Black Swan (Aronofsky, 2010) -- 3/29/2011

Actually, all it does is equalize it. It makes all the money I would spend exactly equal. Only, if I go to Target, I get an extra disc. I may or may not need that extra disc.. but who knows, if I go really broke I could maybe sell it to a used store for a couple bucks and buy a cup of soup. Target wins.

Re: Black Swan (Aronofsky, 2010) -- 3/29/2011

Well, hm, on the other hand, I hate it when the studios do exclusives at certain stores and I'm not sure if I want to encourage the practice... Why should customers who paid for the product not get as much as other customers because they didn't go to a soul-sucking gay-bashing Target? Hm. Back to having to think this thing through.
