Re: Scream Four Movie Set Coming From Anchor Bay, Possibly September

Hopefully the director's cut of Scream will be included. I hope this new partnership between Starz, TWC and Miramax really works out. There are a lot of titles Anchor Bay would probably love to release, the Halloween 6 producers cut and Crow :City of Angels original cut come to mind.

I don't see anything on the Scream Trilogy aside from the entry in Blockbuster Mexico (which, given that the partnership was just announced a few days, seems unlikely). They should have released in April when the film hits Theaters. Oh well, I've been enjoying my Canadian set for some time now and unless the US set greatly improves on it (or it's really cheap), i'll pass.

At least with Anchor Bay, we know the prices will drop like a rock within a few weeks. New releases drop to $10 almost instantly.

If the original Scream is still cut, I'll pass.

Best news of the day!

There are tons of titles releases by Dimension that I would love to see get a proper release.

Really? Isn't it only like 20 seconds of footage? Hardly a deal breaker, if so.

^ I agree. I have that version on DVD and it's not a deal breaker to me either. Will definitely get this.

I'd love to have the uncut version of Scream included. If not, may likely still get this (depending on what the special features well be and if the new movie is any good )

The difference is less than 20 seconds and it's just a slower pan and cut on
Spoiler:
Drew Barrymore Hanging in the tree
and in all honesty I prefer the R version of the film, it just flows easierly. I can't believe that there are people that won't buy a blu-ray because of one edit like this.

But count me in for day one purchase!

This is certainly good news. Is it worth dumping off my original DVD box set? Is that even worth anything?

Great news.

The only down side is that we got to wait until September and I want it now.

In all likelihood I wouldn't buy the Blu-ray anyway, particularly if I was forced to purchase the entire trilogy. I rewatched the sequels during the Horror Challenge last year, and both were extremely difficult to get through.

Correct me here, but Disney owned Dinension and the previous 3 Scream films. They sold Dimension. Why would Anchor Bay release it when they dont have the rights? Same goes for a lot of wish titles above.

I'm only interested in the first film, so I wouldn't purchase the set either...(unless we're talking sub $20 pricing)

Oh Jesus Christ, here we go with this shit again.

http://www.deadline.com/tag/miramax/

TWC purchased 25% of Starz Media Group and they will use Anchor Bay to distribute new properties as their deal with Sony has "expired."

As Disney's deal to distribute Miramax titles has "expired," for the time being, new Miramax CEO Mike Lang has partnered with TWC for distribution and creation of new materials.

Therefore, for the time being, TWC will distribute Miramax titles.

Hmm. Ok. So let's hope Anchor Bay does not fuck up. Why the new Dimension would go with them is beyond me but probably not a whole lot of studios want to distribute the films. Sony must be hurting if they didn't renew (or decided not to) and sold off a lot of catalog to the little studio Image.

that's not exactly true, her stabbing was also trimmed as well as the gut spill of her boyfriend and the ending - the kitchen scene were parts of the film that were trimmed to get it's R-rating.

Re: Scream Four Movie Set Coming From Anchor Bay, Possibly September

I'd like a set of the Scream movies on blu-ray. Mainly for the first one. Though, I do like the part in 3 where the group is watching the video that Randy made before he got killed. As long as each movie has the commentary from the dvd releases, I'll be happy.

There are actually several scenes that differ somewhat from the theatrical release.

From IMDB:

Craven notes five places where his cut differs from the theatrical release:
-Steve's guts are shown pouring out of him as Casey looks on. In the released version, the very last few moments of this are shown.
-Casey hanging from the tree was time compressed in the film release (it is at normal speed here).
-When Tatum meets her death by garage door, her head is shown, very briefly being flattened.
-After Kenny the cameraman's throat is cut, he stares at the blood on his hand after touching his neck, and then looks up at the killer.
-Billy clearly loses control as he delivers his final cuts to Stuart. After Billy and Stuart have finished stabbing each other, there is a shot of Stu's hand dripping blood into a puddle, with Sydney's father looking on.

I've had the original film on DVD in its uncut form (R2 release), so I hope this one will be uncut also.

for some reason IMDB misses the additional stabbings of Casey at the beginning of the film, since on the commentary track that Craven provides he explicitly states he had to tone down that scene too.

Re: Scream Four Movie Set Coming From Anchor Bay, Possibly September

Those minor edits aren't going to make me change my mind. I loved Scream, Scream 2 wasn't very good but it fun in a campy sort of way, and Scream 3 was... well, not good at all. However, there's no way I can't have the trilogy, plus the new film, in my collection.

Re: Scream Four Movie Set Coming From Anchor Bay, Possibly September

I need to see #2 again. I always thought it would hold up better than 1 or 3. At the time it was hard to appreciate because of the originality of the original, but thought it was a stronger film as a whole. As for 3, well...yeah...not good.
