Re: The Man From Nowhere - badass Korean film coming to BD 3/8/11
I think I read something somewhere (blu-ray.com?) that many people were receiving another title (IP Man?) inside a Man From Nowhere slipcover. I'm assuming Amazon had a lot of such returns and stopped selling it temporarily. I have it waiting for me at home, and I hope it's the right disc inside.

It's only a sawbuck at walmart.com. Hopefully Amazon will price match.

Thank you
Ordered it. This is exactly the price that I was willing to pay for US edition
I would have like the audio commentary and extras from Limited Korean edition, but it's already out of print and was way too expensive anyway.
I have to pay tax with Amazon and also have to pay shipping if I don't buy $25, so Walmart is better option anyway.

I like that the dvd version actually came with a chapter insert. A lost art (i assume the Blu version has one too)

....why? I could care less about chapter inserts. Waste of paper that I just leave in anyway and never look at again.

It's nice to open a case to see full color art looking back at you. Certainly a lot better than the holes of "Eco-cases".

Both "could care less" and "couldn't care less" are commonly used, although "could care less" has become more popular recently.
This has annoyed sticklers to no end, but doesn't appear to be slowing down its usage.

In 1975, the Harper’s usage dictionary declared that “could care less” was “an ignorant debasement of the language.” (Said panelist Isaac Asimov: “I don’t know people stupid enough to say this.”)

And quoting the article's quote from the 1975 Harper Dictionary of Contemporary Usage is missing the point of that article. Despite being condemned over 35 years ago by that book, the phrase has actually gained ground in terms of usage, instead of losing it.
Interestingly, I checked out a copy of the dictionary, and the panel also disagreed with using the word "cope" is in "I can't cope," and with using "contact" to mean to get in touch with someone. These were wince-inducing usages at the time that were to be discouraged.

unless it's something saying something important...no me importa!
only on DVDtalk could we be on topic only to be derailed by something like this. For further proof go the "11yr. old gets raped by 28 guys etc thread"

It's only "wrong" if it has potential to be misunderstood. It's been around for over 50 years, and thus isn't an example of a "devolving" language than any other words phrases that change meaning over time, like the exception that proves the rule.

I got my assed grassed by a professor one time because I used "I could care less" on a paper. Took off points and in bright red marker put "'couldn't care less' is what you are trying to say". Stuck with me ever since.

To suggest that the meaning of the phrase has changed over time is to also say that the meaning of the word "could" has completely reversed direction and now actually means "could not."

"Could care less" is a simple malapropism at best, much like "We cannot let terrorists hold this nation hostile" or "We've got to nip that in the butt." (I actually heard a co-worker say this one recently.)
