Tommy Wiseau's THE ROOM coming "before Christmas 2011"

"We want a Blu-ray release before Christmas 2011," he said. Wiseau also revealed that he intends to convert The Room to 3D for theatrical release in late 2011 or in 2012. However, no mention of a 3D Blu-ray release was made.

Wiseau explained that he has "hundreds of emails" asking for behind-the-scenes footage. He said he replies that they'll get them "as soon as we release the Blu-ray."

YES! Behind the scenes footage is great but I'd kill for a Wiseau commentary.

Add the Rifftrax commentary and I'm in.

My wife and I were watching Veronica Mars recently (we went through the whole series over about two months), and there was a pretty quick reference to this movie. From what I recall, they didn't even mention the title, but at the beginning of a scene, two characters were mid-conversation and one said something like "Oh it's great. People throw spoons at the screen. It's like this generation's Rocky Horror."

I'd be in for the Blu-ray as long as there are some worthwhile special features. :)

2011? It's like I'm sitting on an atomic bomb, waiting for it to go off!

If there are any new special features added, one that could be great is a video of any Q & A or just and interview with Wiseau. I saw a Q & A with him before a Room showing, and it was perhaps one of the strangest things I have ever saw, and I mean that in a good way.

There is an interview with him on the DVD that's suitably weird.

"Want" and "intend" don't necessarily mean will. Especially with this guy.

In case people are unaware, one of the greatest bits of trivia is that THE ROOM was shot simultaneously with two cameras, one running digital and one running 35mm, because Wiseau couldn't decide which format he liked best. He will not have to convert THE ROOM at great expense because, well, he shot it in the shittiest, most unintentional 3D ever.

I'm sure the DVD sells enough to make a Blu-Ray profitable too, so he's not just talking out of his horribly-shaped ass.

I know, but it's nothing compared to watching him ramble in front of a crowd. Watching him speak and interact was a strange experience, and the only way I can describe it is that it's like he is an alien came to Earth and was trying to learn to be human by talking to people and it's his first day here. Also, he was wearing 4 belts around his waist, and none of them were placed through the belt loops. I don't know what was up with that.

"Filmmaker" Tommy Wiseau would have been more appropriate. I'm still waiting for the book about the making of the movie, the play, and the musical. I'll believe it when I see it.

It also raises the question...which source will he use for the Blu-Ray? The HD video or scan in the 35mm? Knowing Wiseau, he'll probably do both and only use one for the disc.

(I've always heard that the reason he shot in both formats is because he didn't "Understand the difference" in the formats. Basically he was so uneducated in both HD video and film that he just decided to do both and pick one later.)

Well, if you play The Room video game, that is how they explain it.

They need to make sure to include the Nostalgia Critic's review on the film and his rebuttal when Wisseau and the guy who produced the film weren't happy with what he did and demanded the review get taken down.

Also: The Room is not a movie that can benefit from being in 3D.

I cannot stand this movie. The Nostalgia Critic's slam review was hilarious, though.

I don't see that happening. Thankfully, the NC review is back up on his website.

Yeah he was in DC in July for a few midnight showings of the Room. He's def a weird character. I still don't know its all an act and he's laughing himself all the way to the bank, or if he still believes he made a masterpiece.

Then we could see That Guy With The Glasses complain about copyright infringement. This time, it would be a legitimate complaint!

I still can't believe Wiseau threw a bitch fit about the review. The main reason my girlfriend and I watched it was due to the review...

It wasn't Wiseau who threw the bitch fit. It was the producer who went completely nuts. Wiseau in the beginning was just like "Its another review" and didn't have much to say. After the producer guy went nuts, then Tommy decided to be more anti-NC.
