The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
AMC's The Walking Dead will be released on BD and DVD on March 8, 2011. The first season looks outstanding so far and I'm definitely getting it on Blu-ray. Available for pre-order at Amazon.com.

Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
since Amazon has spoiled me w/ the Mad Men seasons (1-3) at $9.99 each...I shall wait and hope that one day...this too will be cheap as fuck. Until that happens I shall wait. I've seen the 1st episode online and I loved the comic...so I'm fucking game for this thing AT the right price. *sigh*

Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
I'll be picking it up on Day 1, I won't wait until December for a cheaper price. It's a pretty great show so far. Still surprises me what they are actually showing when it comes to the zombies.

Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
It's 6 episodes! That needs to be around $20 before even consider biting on that.
|
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Pretty lackluster first season, but I'll probably pick it up anyway.

Was it me or did AMC's HD look like crap?

Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Looked good to me, though it seems like an "artistic" choice to give it that washed out look at times.

That's funny - more often than not I have to find myself defending the show from people who think it's completely horrible.

Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Lackluster or not, the series seems to be fairing quite well overall - at least for now.
http://insidetv.ew.com/2010/12/06/wa...inale-ratings/ 'Walking Dead' season finale bites into 6 million viewers by Archana Ram Categories: Cable, Fall TV, Ratings, Television, The Walking Dead, TV Biz, TV Ratings Just over six million people tuned in for last night’s season finale of AMC’s The Walking Dead, making it the most-watched episode of the season. (An additional 2.1 million viewers took in the show during its 11 p.m and 1 a.m. encore airings.) With an average of 3.5 million viewers over its six-episode season aged 18 to 49, the zombie series, based on Robert Kirkman’s graphic novels, is now the most watched drama series in basic cable history in the ad-favored demo, according to Nielsen Media Research. |

Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Well I like it, but I find it too easy to nitpick. It just doesn't slow my enthusiasm for watching zombie killing on TV. Is Mad Men a better show overall? I just finally finished watching it and I have to say yes.

Looking forward to finally seeing this in HD. (Direct TV subscriber here)

Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Hurm...my DVR collected this, but I only have AMC in standard def so I've been holding off for either DirecTV to pick up AMC-HD, or for the Blu to be announced. Now that it's announced I'm not liking the $35 for 6 episodes price. Not cool. Hopefully it will drop before release.
I probably can't hold off 3 months for it anyway, so will probably just break down and watch in SD soon. Hopefully it won't be quite as painful as IFC's SD feed of Dead Set. That almost literally hurt to watch. Damn good show though! |
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
I enjoyed it, but doubt I'll ever watch it again any time soon. Maybe if Season 2 is good and this shows up on a Black Friday deal for like $10, we'll see...
|
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
For those concerned about the price, it IS an Anchor Bay release, so odds are it won't stay too expensive for long...
|
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Yeah, I'll wait for a price dip on this. I mean, come on, it's six episodes. It will fall in price sooner or later.
I just wish I had watched these as they aired. I have a few recorded, but I'm not sure if I should watch them now or just wait and experience them for the first time on Blu-ray. |
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
dont watch them out of order, if you dont have a consecutive sequence of episodes, then i'd say wait, since they end with cliffhangers.
|
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Def buying this, but for a sub-$25 price.
|
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Really enjoyed the first season. I'll pick it up for $20 or less.
|
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Highdefdigest reports a $49.99 MSRP.
. . . which I now see in the Amazon listing . . . ha.:) |

Cover art from Shock Till You Drop:
<img src=http://shocktillyoudrop.com/nextraimages/walking-dead-blu.jpg alt=wd ************************************ I didn't know they retitled the show "The AMC Walking Dead". Talk about an eyesore. |
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
What's funny about that cover art is if you watched the HD broadcast, it's PAINFULLY obvious that most of that shot is a really bad painting. I couldn't even believe they tried to pass that off as a real life scene. If they don't touch it up for the Blu-Ray, it's going to look even more hilariously fake.
|
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
I, for one, am shocked that they used a matte painting instead of just parking thousands of cars on the actually interstate.
|
Re: The Walking Dead 3-8-2011
Of course I understand the pragmatism of using matte paintings, what I'm saying is I'm surprised by how awful and obviously-a-matte-painting it was.
