Memento: 10th Anniversary Edition - 2/22/11

This had been mentioned in the release section, but it deserves its own thread. Lionsgate is handling this release.

From blu-ray.com:

All-new high definition transfer, approved by director Christopher Nolan.

This psychological thriller, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, had been one of the first Blu-ray releases from Sony Pictures. Earlier this year (see Blu-ray.com, May 12), Lionsgate had announced that it had become the exclusive home entertainment distributor for Newmarket Films, including a large majority of the studio's library - especially Memento.

Special features will include:
-Audio commentary with Christopher Nolan
-New featurette with Nolan discussing the legacy of the film
-Director's script
-Original short story Memento
-Anatomy of a Scene

Very nice to hear...I never picked up the first Blu-ray as I was hoping for a more definitive release.

"Director-approved" transfer, new features, old features, and a price tag under $20 list (currently). Still shocked all that is happening. I'm very excited.

haha, figures after I just open my copy and watch it on Monday night. Oh well, still a great movie and will pick it up again when it's under $10 (assuming the new transfer is that much better)

Very awesome news! I'm a little surprised this wasn't timed to coincide with the Inception BD release or the 3rd Batman theatrical release, but February is as good a time as any for me.

It makes me sick to my stomach that it has already been 10 freakin' years since this film was released. It opened my eyes and changed the way I view film forever.

What makes me sick is that this film was completely ignored during the awards season.

So I guess I can sell off the original release, but need to hold onto the limited edition. Wish I could get rid of both.

Yeah. To be complete:

- Audio commentary by Christopher Nolan with multiple endings
- Chronological Edit
- IFC Interview with Christopher Nolan
- "Anatomy of a Scene" TV Special
- "Memento Mori" Short Story
- 6 Galleries including the Shooting Script (between the 2 releases -- may be some crossover)
- Theatrical Trailers and TV Spots

I'm pretty "meh" on this re-release. I'd rather see more new/catalog releases than double dips.

Given that the original release was an MPEG2-encoded BD25, this is one of the few double-dips that I welcome with open arms.

I heard Nolan tinkered with this release and actually refilmed 95% of Guy Pearce's scenes with Jeremy Renner.

This isn't a true double dip since LionsGate now has the rights to this film. It's a new catalog release for them. A quality film like this deserves top treatment on BD, which was severely lacking from Sony's original release.

Same here. There are a few special editions that you keep and that is one of them.
