Re: What crteria do you have for whether to upgrade a title to Blu?
I said I would not upgrade any of DVDs to BR, my will power has failed me.
Had to get some of the movies I watch and my family watch over and over again. 1. Sound of Music 2. Transporter 3. Mama Mia 4. Iron Man 1 5. XMen 1 6. Wizard of Oz and a few others that I can't remember now. Has to be: -Something my family or I will watch several times a year -Has to be a giant leap in VQ (Sound is a big plus, but not a huge selling point) -Price has to be lower than 19.99 (much lower) -Can't be something the Studio just threw together to get another buck from me, they have to put some heart into if they want me to put some of my $$$ into it. But, I will not be upgrading the 400+ DVDs I own, unless I win the Lotto. |
Re: What crteria do you have for whether to upgrade a title to Blu?
It has to be something that is a considerable improvement (apart from just better picture & sound) over the DVD and a film I will watch over and over.
I bought Johnny Handsome Blu-ray for $7.99 because the comparable DVD (which I never bought) is a VHS transfer, full screen with no extras. Usually if the DVD was struck from an HD master, up-converting is good enough. |
Re: What crteria do you have for whether to upgrade a title to Blu?
I upgrade them all, but I only have 350+ movies. About 40 remaining DVD's to go. If I like a film enough to own it I want to watch it in the highest quality possible, even if it's just a marginal improvement.

1) movie rewatchability
2) transfer 3) price |
