Movies airing on TV in HD but No Blu-Ray

Sorry if there is already atopic about this or anything but I searched and found nada.
I just got upgraded to DirecTV HD (for free) and have noticed alot of movies airing on the HD channels that do not have blu-ray releases, heck some dont even have widescreen or 16x9 versions avaiable in R1? So what are you top 10 most wanted movies on blu that already have great HD transfers that are airing on TV.

There are tons of TV shows that are available via Amazon VOD and NetFlix in HD that are not commercially available on Blu-Ray as well.. I often wonder why not.....

I'm still upset Eastbound & Down: S1 got a DVD-only release despite being broadcast in HD.

The decision to release a TV show (or movie) on Blu-ray is based on economics and marketing, not simply on whether or not a hi-def transfer is available. TV shows in particular have not sold very well on Blu-ray, so the economic prospects are rather dim for those looking to release them.

It should also be noted that just because a tv show or movie has received a hi-def transfer for television broadcast or on-demand, it does not mean that transfer is suitable for Blu-ray.

Not necessarily my most wanted, but these are a few of the HDTV viewings I've seen over the last few months:

Matinee
Lifeforce
Prince of Darkness
Witchboard
TerrorVision
Fright Night Part II
Warlock
How to Make a Monster
Cyclops
Curse of the Crimson Altar
Grave of the Vampire
Maniac Cop 2
Premature Burial
They Live

Plus all of the Hammer films that TCM aired last month.

Oh man, I really would love to see Lifeforce on Blu-Ray.

Time to begin my letter-writing campaign

Sorry, not sure about dates and/or channels. Those are all HD broadcasts I acquired from...other sources.

I saw License to Drive a few weeks ago on Cinemax in HD. No bluray, and the dvd has been discontinued for a long time.

About two years ago, I saw "Jennifer 8" on some HD channel and it looked damn good. I'm one of the 10 people who saw it in the theater, and really liked it. I'd buy that for sure.

Ive kept many movies on my DVR because of this reason

Incredible Shrinking Woman
It Takes Two (the one about the guy buying the fake Lambo)
Just on of the Guys (when the only dvd release has been in crappy f/s)
Star Wars 4-6... until next year of course

Not necessarily on TV (as far as I'm aware of), but Netflix has been streaming The Last Detail in HD for a while.

I saw that in the theater as well. I think you're right, there were certainly less than 10 people at my screening.

I also owned it on Laserdisc. I thought the movie was pretty good, but could definitely tell that it had been chopped up in post-production. I'd be curious to see a real director's cut some day.

I wish the Republicans and Democrats would agree on one important issue...to prohibit cropping of immortal works of art, like this one and the Conan movies. While I'm complaining, we could put the History Channel into receivership for poor management of an essential national resource.

Just a bump because The Rocketeer is playing on Scyfy right now and it looks great. Far better than the non-anamorphic DVD.
