Eh. Of all the classic Disney films, this is the one I feel just doesn't hold up. Overly preachy and extremely sappy.

Day 1 purchase for me. This is my first movie that I watched in a theatre when they re-released back in the early 80's.

One of Disney's top three, IMO (Fantasia and Pinocchio are the other two). If anything, this is a movie that has gotten more resonant with me as I've gotten older. For many children, it's one of the first films they will see that is explicit in specifying that life is not all peaches and cream.

And need I mention, if you've lost a parent you will never look at this film the same way again.

I can actually remember seeing a re-release of this in the theatre when I was about 10. My family was on vacation and we saw it in a twin theatre. The other screen was playing...JAWS!! It was funny; everyone was going in to see Jaws, about ten people went to see Bambi.

Hmmmm...that suggests another movie possibility to me: "Bambi Meets Jaws."
