Looking forward to seeing this again. When I saw it it was the third movie I'd seen that day and I hadn't had much sleep, so I dozed during some of it, but really liked it. Can't wait to watch it while fully awake.

Bestbuy.com has lowered the price of the 1-disc version to $15.99.

Is the 1-Disc just the Theatrical Cut?

And of course, Amazon has now lowered the combo pack down to $19.99.

Is this one worth picking up for the extras? Loved the movies but are the extras worth it?

They're decent. Affleck does a commentary which I didn't listen to all the way through and there are 35-ish minutes of Focus Points that you can watch during the movie or by themselves that show some good behind the scenes footage.

Re: The Town (Extended) --> 12/17/10

I will be watching this for the first time over Xmas weekend, and I have two questions:
1. Should I view the theatrical or extended cut on my initial viewing?

2. Is this movie OK to watch with 12-14 year olds?
Thanks!

I've seen both cuts and I have to say I think I prefer the shorter theatrical version. Maybe if the extended was 15min longer instead of nearly 30 that would've been a good cut, but as it is there are just too many mediocre and poor scenes.

As for your second question (definitely theatrical cut in this case, lol) I have no idea what you'd consider OK, but it's a cops and robbers movie... harsh but not glorifying the violence and stuff either. Not exactly Christmas movie material imo, but to each their own...

I don't mind a little gun play, (these kids DO have Xbox, after all), but I was mostly concerned about nudity, simulated sex, etc.

Depends on how strict the parents are, I would not let my 12 year old watch it if I had one. Almost literally, every other word in the film is "fuck", it makes Deadwood seem like Sesame Street with profanity & there are 2 sex scenes, although no nudity. And lots of drug references. And there is also the whole thing of
Spoiler:
Affleck's portrayed as the hero of the film, or at least the character you root for despite the fact that he is a bank robbing cop killer. Its not exactly a positive message for a kid
.

Back in the early 80s, kids aged 12-14 were totally into nudity and simulated sex.

OK, that answers my question. Looks like we'll be watching It's a Wonderful Life.

Thanks for your contribution. -screwy- Perhaps one of the dumbest non-sequiturs I've seen on these boards.
