wish if they were going to cut some for the 3D release that it would have been some of the featurettes and not the deleted scenes or story board sequences.
I guess they didnt want to do a 2 disc release cause they wouldnt be able to do their 3D effect cover art with the background being on the insert and the girl being printed on the cover if there was a second disc in there.
least they could do is offer these scenes to those of us who pay the few dollars premium of buying the 3D disc is offer them via BD LIVE.
and iam not really a huge fan of BD live but atleast we would have the option of seeing them

... and that's why I like Disney combo packs.

EDIT: I also prefer lenticular covers for 3D BDs rather than Sony's flimsy ass clear shit too!

I dont see the 3D version being 2 Discs. At Amazon it says only one disc.

I have a feeling they really did run out of room on the 3D version. I read in a review that those 10 "featurettes" that they kept on the 3D version amounts to a 2.5 hour "making of" doc.

They did. As Amity pointed out, they probably didn't want to take away from the cool 3D effect (plus no clear 2 disc cases). I can live without them, but still....we are paying a premium.

It depends on where you're buying it, I guess. Right now, the 3D version is $1 cheaper than the 2D version at Amazon, so no premium being paid by me unless they drop the 2D version's price prior to shipping (which they probably will... I forget what other retailers will be selling it for next week).

I noticed it just dropped about an hour ago by $3. I'd still, as a 3D owner, feel like I should be getting all the content since in most cases we pay more money (Amazon's price is not Best Buy or Targets). But eh, I can probably live without that content.

I don't have a 3D set yet. I would like to add one by Q4 of next year. I think I'll go ahead and buy the 3D version since it's a reasonable $22.99. I saw this in the theater and parts of the 3D was cool, others not so much.

For what it's worth, the lowest price of the major stores is $21.99 (with free shipping) for the 2D version at DVDEmpire. Not info meant to sway anyone into buying a certain version, though.

Based on the one review I read, the deleted scenes/storyboards didn't seem like anything major to me... although, the reviewers comments were brief. The major stuff are the featurettes, so I'm glad they kept that stuff.

It would be nice if Sony went the Disney route and just included separate 3D/2D discs. Heck, other regions got a 2 disc set. Otherwise, I expect dropped supplements to continue if Sony doesn't want to add a second disc. Had Piranha not been relatively short, I doubt we would've got what's there now.

Well I just noticed the price of the 3d version at Amazon went up to 35.99. I guess that made my decision a lot easier.

WTF? Glad I ordered and canceled my old $24.99 order. Amazon is slow on price matching.

It is extremely rare that Amazon doesn't price match a major retailer's lowest price the week of release - it's almost unheard of for a new non-catalog release. Given their pre-order price gaurantee, it doesn't matter how slow they are to price match as long as they drop the price by the street date. You don't need to cancel orders, either - they'll either adjust it before it ships or credit you back the difference a day or two after it ships. I have seen HUGE price drops between the price I ordered something at (since I never care what it says on the day I order it) and what I end up paying for it. You're always going to pay whatever the lowest price was between your order date and the street date.

If anyone in Canada is after this one, Amazon.ca has the 3D version for $19.99 - locked in a preorder on that one!

I was talking about Amazon matching their own price. Since it dropped down to $22.99, it takes several days for them to 'auto-correct' the order I already have on file. And since the $22.99 price only lasted for a few hours, they would have likely just skipped it and never reduced my order. Unless a major retailer sells the 3D BD for $22.99 (and I doubt it, no New Release has ever been that low in 3D), they will stick to whatever price is likely 'the best' from retailers (which will probably be $24.99-$29.99 judging RE: Afterlifes price since it's the same studio).

Will the 3-D version play on my normal HDTV or will it look blurry? Do I need to buy the 2-D version instead? Sorry for the dumb question, I really haven't been keeping up on this 3-D stuff.

It'll play on your HDTV. For RE:A, though, the menu was '3D' for me (so blurry when I took off the glasses). This may have just been because the TV recognized I had glasses on, but I have no idea if I wanted to watch it 2D if the menu would still be '3D'.

But you're safe. Just know that the 3D version is missing Special Features (if you care).

Thanks for the info. I'd pre-ordered the 3-D version but wasn't sure.

Got this one today(3D Version) and confirm there are no Deleted scenes. Simply a Commentary and the 10 Behind the Scenes featurettes.

Oops, yes, sorry. I am referring to the 3D release. I don't have (and won't get), the 2D-only release.

Borders has a 50% off code on select BDs (FIFTYBLU). The 2D version doesn't work, but the 3D version does, so you can get it for $20.49 + tax. And of course, if you're a Borders Rewards member, you get another 10% off and free standard shipping.

Re: Piranha: 2D & 3D Editions -----> 1/11/2011

I was only going to get the 2D version because I thought the 3D was terrible during its theatrical presentation, but with Borders offering 50% off the 3D version and a location within walking distance of my place of work... I went with the 3D and had it shipped to the store.

I could care less about the trailers, but I wanted to see a specific death scene that was deleted.

Re: Piranha: 2D & 3D Editions -----> 1/11/2011

Watched the entire 2 hour making of - some very good moments, the segment on the gore was especially good... I think they could have shaved off about 30 minutes but overall it was very well done... also love the Piranha 3D theme that is now my PS3 wallpaper
