Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that it will release the original 1969 version of True Grit on Blu-ray on December 14, tying in with the theatrical release of the remake directed by the Coen brothers. This western was directed by Henry Hathaway and starred John Wayne in a memorable role that won him his only Academy Award. Always liked this movie and never bought the DVD. Will likely pick up this BD.

I will upgrade my DVD since the movie was filmed here where I live and is something of a local legend. It is fun to see how things have changed, or not, since then.

I hate it when they go all desaturated on the covers for old films. This one's ok....it's the movie that matters of course.

Seems to solve the excess green problem although not mentioned in the text of the review itself.

Ack! Amazon is now saying they won't have this until mid-January, possibly. Other online shops are listing it as in-stock, though. That's frustrating.
