Fucking 1st day buy. I'll be damned if I'm not getting this bitch.
Now if only Paramount would just give us a pristine transfer of OUATITW....none of this bs they did to the the other Leone westerns.

Re: Once Upon A Time in America - 1/11/11
I've heard there's an even longer cut of this out there, isn't there?
Anyway, I've never seen this. Contemplated buying it a couple times, but I always held off.
I know that's quite a bit of content (just under 4 hours, plus the bonus features)... should this all fit on one 50GB disc without a problem? Makes me kind of nervous. I think it would be better to have the full film on one disc, and then the bonus features on another.

wikipedia has this:
Runtime
The original shooting-script, completed in October 1981 after many delays and a writers' strike that happened between April and July of that year, was 317 pages in length. At the end of filming, Leone had about 8 to 10 hours' worth of footage. With his editor, Nino Baragli, Leone trimmed this down to about almost 6 hours, and he originally wanted to release the film in two movies with three-hour parts. The producers refused (partly due to the commercial and critical failure of Bertolucci's two-part Novecento) and Leone was forced to further shorten the length of his film, resulting in a completed (i.e. scored, dubbed, edited, etc.) film of 229 minutes.

on the topic of the BD: I think it'd do more than fine w/ the special features on there without affecting the quality of the film on the disc. Commentary is just another audio track of which it'd take little space. The Doc if it's the same that was on the DVD is only about 20 mins, I believe. It's actually taken from a longer doc called Once Upon A Time: Sergio Leone (I've yet to see it so....I dunno what that Doc's length is). The 20 mins we did get from it though...are good. So...that wouldn't impact the film either. I think we're safe...all that matters is that WB don't fuck up the new transfer of it...and we're good. I do wish we'd get that full length doc on Leone though...it seems good.

I was a little bummed that this isn't about Once Upon a Time in the West, which is very high on my all-time list.
