The Long Kiss Goodnight >> 1/11/2011
I love this movie, and I saw the announcement had been basically cut out around the new $20 MSRP for Warner titles and thought it was a terrible injustice. Makes for a great Shane Black double feature with The Last Boy Scout. Specs say 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio.
No extras announced (yet?). Definitely not holding my breath, but Jackson has always named this as his favorite of his own movies so I bet they could easily nail down Harlin and Jackson for a commentary if they tried. Davis might not want to join in, though, since Harlin is her ex.

Nice. I definitely will buy this. Too bad they'd probably never include the alternate ending where Jackson died. Test audiences hated that ending.

I still have the DTS Laserdisc release... the sound on that release is AWESOME. I'd expect no extras on this one, but would love to be proven wrong.
Just to have 1080p video and DTS-MA is enough for me though.

One of the best action trailers ever (still love that car skidding towards the camera!).

me three, there are alot of 'sound' moments on the laserdisc, but the two that stand out the most are the 'end' bridge explosion and the rescue of Geena Davis' character - she's underneath the floor and the gun fight above her literally sounds like's over the head of the listener, the gunshots in the rear channels are quite loud and literally in your face, this is one bluray where it'd be cool if they encoded the sound at 192kHz/24 bit.

You are right about the "sounds" Giles.
Thought it was great that one of the guns in COD5 sounds exactly the same as the one she uses to rescue Jackson from the snow hotel.

With the new MSRP this is one I'd probably pick up sooner rather than later. How long before someone has it for $9.99?

Would be nice to use something different for the BD release. I always thought the artwork for VHS, LaserDisc and the DVD was horrible.

This was my very first DVD when I decided to drop 400 bones on a new fangled DVD player in like, 1997. So long ago. It'll be a pleasure to upgrade.

Wow, Warner actually did find two tiny little features for this: a vintage EPK, and the trailer (as per DVDTimes.co.uk - http://homecinema.thedigitalfix.co.u...n-january.html)

This release seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth.
Any news on what happened to it?
I was looking forward to this one

What exactly do you mean by that? It's not supposed to come out until January. It's still available for pre-order at wal-mart, target, and buy.com, at the very least.

Edit: A google search let me to this forum that seems to say that it has been postponed, but the evidence is not that impressive so who knows.
