http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=5897

for those who are kind of worried about how the 3D conversion of Beauty and the beast and Lion King will look.
You should put those fears aside, myself i saw several sequences of Beauty and the beast 3D last year at Show west, and as i said in a different thread last year, it looks amazing.
But now reviews from the Austrailan Engagement of the full movie are appearing online and its getting some great word of mouth

And the best part is that the 3D version is the original theatrical cut excising "Human Again" from the special edition.

Since news of Disneys plans for the animated classics arriving on Bluray in 2011 is starting to trinkle out, thought it would be good if we had a seperate thread from the 2009-2010 thread. So please everyone lets keep this thread to confirmed and rumored releases FOR 2011

Dumbo should also come out, pushed back from a spring 2010 release. Of course, these are all very tentative, with Dumbo being an example of why we can't expect Disney to release what they say they will.

Just Lion King. Not interested in any 3D remix of it either.

Ditto. With the kids grown my interest in the G rated family fare is limited however i still appreciate what great movies they are. Sticking with just the biggies when they are released:

Aladdin
Beauty
Lion King

Bambi is good, might rent Alice in Wonderland, don't care about Lion King, 3D is dumb.

Just no love for Hunchback of Notre Dame. It was really the first Disney movie I saw that seemed to start breaking some ground compared to what they did in the past. Didn't we only get the single disc one on this? No platinum edition, no diamond edition, no blu-ray on the radar. What gives?

No interest in 3D either. I'll buy them all otherwise.

I agree. I love this movie. It's one of my Disney faves. Beautiful animation & music... and crappy home video releases. Yes, as far as I know, the only releases have been VHS & a rather lackluster single disc DVD.

It had a terrific laserdisc release with lots of extras.

not technically animated, but partially, isn't Mary Poppins slated for a 2011 release?

Havent heard any word, about it comming in 2011.
while it is a mixture of live acton and animation, I think its kind of been marketed and treated as part of the animated clasic line for a number of years.

Well i have seen quite a few scenes of it converted with my own eyes at work and at show west last year. And there are several reviews popping up online saying that it looks amazing as well.

how many times have you seen it ? mmkay

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2011 Bluray plans

Posting two items on here.

First off today at work, they started playing a new 3D trailer at the end of the screenvision preshow before all of our 3D features we are currently showing. It was a Mitusbishi 3D HD 3D spot (which plays in 3D on screen )the trailer which touts Mitsubishis 3D HD tvs and 3D bluray products ends with a reference to a 3D starter kit, standard pair of glasses and a movie but the reason why i am mentioning this in 2011 disney thread is because On the box of the starter kit is none other than timon and pumba underwhich says Lion King 3D.
Anyone going to see to 3D movie in the theatre that plays screenvision might want to take a look for it as well.

I found it strange since sony was who disney partnered with for alice and bolt 3D

And secondly it looks like the Dumbo trailer has resurfaced on Beauty and the Beast so its probably a definate that next year the us will get Dumbo on bluray finally as well.

The Lion King is a must have for me. Don't care about Alice in Wonderland and haven't seen Bambi in ages.

Re: Walt Disney Animated classics 2011 Bluray plans

WTF happened with Dumbo anyways? The first thing that plays on my Snow White Blu-Ray before you can get to the damn movie is a trailer saying it was coming spring 2010.

So if I go to a theater that plays Screenvision ads, I assume they won't charge any extra $ for the 3-D since the ad revenue more than takes care of that? ;) (I LOVE 3-D, but refuse to pay the inflated prices at theaters.)
